Load Up Your Arsenal with the Right Blogging Bullets

November 12, 2010 - Last Modified: April 1, 2014 by Jeevan Jacob John

Blogging Bullets

Content, Promotion and Networking are not only the important things in Blogging. There are some hidden characteristics that play a very very important role in achieving a successful blogging career. Are you curious to know what they are ? Just try to guess.

What else do you need ?

You need a lot more than good creativity to create good content, promoting skills and social skills. Let me tell you what they are :-

I’m going to work no matter what – Determination

Right blogging BulletsYou need to try until you achieve your goal (short or long term). Determination plays a major role in achieving blogging success. You need determination to write good content, to promote and to network. Determination and Hard work goes together. Blogging is hard work. People who doesn’t have determination to do hard work are unable to succeed in blogging, that’s the reason why many bloggers abandon their blogs.

Patience

You have to have patience to succeed. Don’t expect instant results. Many bloggers wait for results and when they don’t get the results instantly, they quit blogging. That’s the reason why we get a lot of abandoned blogs. Have patience, wait for a long time. You will not get instant results unless you are a well known blogger.

Do I love Blogging ? Seriousness

Do you love blogging ? On a scale on 1 to 5, rate how serious you view blogging as ? For me, Blogging is really a serious thing. I started blogging as a hobby. I still love blogging as it is. But now, I am little more serious in that I know what blogging really is ; The importance of creating content and connecting with others. If you are a blogger who doesn’t consider blogging seriously then I would recommend you to quit blogging, close this tab and shut down your computer. (This is only for people who doesn’t consider the blogging as serious – But I do know that you are a serious blogger, that’s the reason why you are here, reading this, right now). Take blogging seriously.

Having a Good Personality

Personality is a thing that everyone has. If you don’t have a good personality, change it. It is hard to change your learned behaviors but you have to change it if its bad. Having a good personality is one of the most important things in achieving blogging success.

Be An Optimistic Blogger

This has to do with having a good personality. Having a good attitude towards blogging will really help you to build a popular blog in your niche. Optimus (Latin) means “good”. From Optimus comes Optimistic which means “having a positive attitude”. You can find a lot of optimistic bloggers nowadays. A great example would be Hesham. Hesham has been able to build a very successful blog in a very short time. His optimistic approach towards blogging has helped him to gain many blogging friends. Optimism will help you to gain new blogging friends, loyal visitors and powerful subscribers. My advise is to have a positive attitude towards blogging. Don’t be depressed if you don’t get expected results. Learn to overcome your weaknesses. Face your challenges !

Being an Helpful Blogger

Help other newbie bloggers. By helping you can:

  1. Increase your reputation and gain
  2. New blogging friends. Optimistic bloggers help

After we all are humans so learn to help our friends. Since Hesham has already written a detailed post on being helpful, I am not going to be descriptive on this case. One more thing : Don’t help other in exchange for a reward (don’t expect rewards). Be a helpful blogger.

Am I blogging for rewards ? Finding your reason for blogging

Why am I blogging ? Finding a good reason to blogging will help you to motivate yourself to blog. It will help you to continue – Keep on blogging. You may make money by blogging. But don’t blog for money. If you do, you will forget yourself, you will start to write less quality articles. (So don’t motivate yourself  to blog for making money).

Avoid these characteristics (list)

Negative Attitudes , Negative Replies, Blogging for money, unhelpful characteristics, rude personality, impatient behavior, Self-deterring determination (depression that can kill your blog) and anything related to this list. I can add many more to this list but most of them are related to these 7 unhealthy traits.

So, Are you loading up the right bullets ?

Blogging Bullets

If not, now you are. Load up these bullets along with content, promotion and networking and aim. Get ready and go ! Kill Your enemy. So, do you have anything more to add ? Any more bullets that might strengthen our Arsenal ?

Good valid points! Then there is also something that cannot be underestimated: self-confidence. Without a proper self-confidence, it makes you harder to reach your goals. For example, you would like to create your first product, but you give up on that, because you feel that you cant do it or it is too hard. Or, it could be list building: you may be afraid that you don't have anything to write about, so you decide not to get started with that. Timo

So in your point about not blogging for money, you mention that if you blog for money, you'll end up writing less quality posts. That may be true, but I think it's also possible that people who blog for money may actually use money as a motivator to write AMAZING posts. What do you think?
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Yes, eventually, you will be focusing more on making money and less on writing quality content. Yes, I do agree that one can write Amazing posts by using Money as a motivator but the situation gets worse every day as you focus on money (You are killing your own ability by choosing money as your motivator). Thanks for the Awesome comment (I think I just got the idea for my next article !)
  3. FRANK says:
All bloggers that will get to the apex in their blogging journey will need all areas here. Foundation for our blogging activities, hard work , patience and perseverance are the key.Meanwhile blogging skills development is important to all bloggers.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Without hard work, determination and patience, you wouldn't be reading this article nor would I have written this article. Thanks for the comment !

Many new bloggers starts their blogging career for earning money, they think that it's very easy to be a rich with blogging, but yeah as you said we must try our best to implement our all skills from content creation to promoting it on social sites. No room for Copy---writers ;)
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I agree Suraj. Thanks for agreeing with me. Thanks for your valuable output !
  5. Gabriele Maidecchi says:
Very good points, in the end I too think blogging comes down to write good content and building a group of engaged people around your message, if possible even a community. Only if you show passion in what you're doing people will see it clearly and stick to you, if your message is worth reading of course.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I agree, but we also need determination, patience and hard work to achieve success. I agree. Thanks for the comment !
  6. Daniel Sharkov says:
Hey Jeevan, You have presented all valid points and there's not much to add up. The two parts I especially agree on are determination and patience. Both of them are an absolute must if you really want to achieve something. Determination has to back up each and every one of your tasks as a blogger. Without it one will probably quit after stumbling upon a problem. Having the will and determination to keep pushing is the key. Great article!
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks for stopping by, Daniel Without Determination and patience, we cannot achieve anything in our lives. Thanks for the valuable feedback ! Jeevan
  7. Alex says:
Great article Jeevan, Blogging is like building your character to become a great man/woman. If you lack this traits in real life then you might have a hard time accomplishing anything while for those who have them it can be a much smoother ride through life. I think your article just demonstrated once more that blogging is very similar to life and having a business you have to take care of.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks ! I agree. The characteristics I mentioned are among the basic structure of blogging. Yes, I do agree. Thanks for the great comment !

All of them is must be a nature of a blogger if they want to success in their blogging journey. Foundation for our blogging activities, hard work and patience is the key and at the mean time we all need to improve our blogging skills. Dear Jevan, thanks for this awesome article, you just pushed me to review my blogging activities. Thanks.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Welcome. I am glad that people are agreeing with me. Thanks for the great comment, Latief ! Jeevan

The love that you touch on the patience that Jeevan - people generally see which blogs currently on the moment completely forgot that it may have many years to go to a level where it is today.

  11. yamina collins says:
I like the point about determination. That is sooo key. And it gives me inspiration to know that as long as I work hard and diligently at something, I can make it. I think that's standard practice for any job you venture on. As for the point about taking blogging seriously, I would like to rephrase that idea: I think you need to LOVE to blog. Otherwise, it can grow tiring real fast.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Glad that you liked it. Thank you ! That's a great idea ! By the way, I love blogging. Thanks for the comment, Yamina ! Jeevan Jacob John

Hi Jacob, Great to see you so passionate about blogging. I'm sure there are a lot of hurdles every blogger face throughout their blogging life. It doesn't go away. Even as a top blogger, there are other problems to deal with although I do believe that once you are at the top things get a little more automated but no one gets to that stage without passing through some difficulties.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks. Yes, I have to agree. Even if a blogger achieves the status of a pro blogger, he/she has to work hard to keep up. Thanks for the comment, Jeevan Jacob John

When I started out, most probably didn't know what I'm blogging about but after sometime, I tend to aim for the money in blogging and now... I don't... not because I had not been earning but because I get use to blogging as one of the daily task, it like brushing your mouth every morning... Well you had listed a great deal of bullets and hope everything goes well in your arsenal...
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Same here, I didn't really get anything. But after spending some time in the blogosphere, I learned what blogging really is. Good for you. When we see it as our daily task, we can accomplish more (but don't feel too depressed or serious about blogging - it tends to happen when you consider blogging as a daily activity). Yes, I do hope too. Thanks for the comment !
  17. Barbara Ling, Virtual Coach says:

    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
May be I shouldn't have written that. I was meaning that "one should face his obstacles and destroy them". Thanks and Thanks once again for commenting, Barbara Jeevan Jacob John
  18. Kerry says:
These are some fantastic tips for accomplishing your goals through blogging. Many people believe they can start blogging today and be successful tomorrow, but it doesn't work like that. That's why one of the best tips you gave in this article is to stay patient.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks ! I agree. Today's newbie blogger thought is that they can start making money right away. To get your expected results,, you have to wait patiently. Thanks for the comment !
  19. Brian says:
Hi Jeevan, Great article and very true. I especially like where you talk about how important it is to be a helpful blogger. I try to answer a question or solve a problem with all of my blog posts. I feel like people are exceedingly thankful when you fix something they were having a problem with, and they are also more likely to link to or share the information with others.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks ! Good for you. I agree. Today's web users are well behaved (that doesn't mean that we don't have bad guys). They tend to share stuff when we help them. Anyway, Thanks for the comment Brian, Keep Helping Others, Jeevan Jacob John
  20. Mike says:
Glad that you love blogging and has determined the way to become a famous blogger, Jeevan. Most people blog because it's one way to make money online. They don't care about bringing value, actually. They just care about bombarding readers with ads, lots of ads. So, hearing you talk about blogging is so wonderful. These are all of the characteristics that are necessary for a blogger. I can't agree more. Great job!
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks. I am glad too that I am interested in being a blogger. I hate ads (too many ads). Of course, one or two ads are not a matter of big concern. But this is not 1 or 2 ads, this is a situation in which we have a blog with ads all over. I do agree that they don't care about anything else than making money. Thanks ! Jeevan Jacob John
  21. Steve says:
Jeevan, I think you reaqlly got the important parts. Creativity, promotion and social skills can (to some extent) be learned and improved on. Many of the characteristics you pointed out are not so easy to improve naturally. Mainly because a lot of people do not think they need to improve them. But having those characteristics are a pretty sure sign that a blog will fail. The important thing to keep in mind (and the unifying trait of all your points) is that blogging is a pretty social thing. People read what someone writes as much for the fact they simply "like" the person as they do for the "genius" that a post contains. Being personable, optimistic, energetic, a good responder and blogging for the passion and joy of it can get you pretty damn far.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I agree. Yes, they are hard to change (like our learned behaviors), but if we try hard, I am sure that we can change them. Most newbie don't think about them because they (bloggers) are all about making money. Yes, I do agree. I am so glad that you agree with me ! Thanks ! Thanks for the comment !
  22. Murlu says:
Love that you touched on the patience part of it Jeevan - people generally see where a blog is currently at while completely forgetting that it may have taken years to go to the level where it's at today. Blogging, much like a business, takes time to build - you can expect to just have it all fall in your lap from your first post; you have to work at it, continually improve it and expand.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I'm glad that you like it. Yes, I agree. Blogging definitely needs a lot of hard work, determination and patience. Thanks for the comment Murlu, Jeevan Jacob John
  23. Mani Viswanathan says:
Patience is the key in everything. A trues blogger experiences the test of life, when gets disapproved by ad networks. But when the blogger takes his blog to the next, at that time affiliates/ad networks approach him via his own contact form. Thats the beauty of blogging. Being helpful is very imp, its your reputation that matters in the long run, not the money you've earned in a short while. P.S. The font is changed in the para of the 5th point (Personality one)
    • Hesham says:
Thank you for the heads up! fixed the font issue!
      • Mani Viswanathan says:
You are always welcome Hesham. @Jeevan Good to see you writing such useful posts on FB :) Keep them coming.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Yes. Patience is the key. I agree. Todays bloggers are so influential that they can change the world with one blog post. Reputation is important and it can be used as a motivator. I just noticed it. It's ok. I can't edit it. Thanks for the comment !
      • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks Hesham ! Thank you for publishing my post !
  24. Chadrack says:
Ok, I'm not out to kill my enemies :) but win in this game I must! So everything on your list is right in my arsenal. I think I'm now more determined to go fight and win!
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I don't mean to kill anyone..I just wanted to say that we have to face and destroy our obstacles. Good for you ! Thanks for the comment, Chadrack Jeevan Jacob John
  25. Encharter says:
Good tips! It is tough work to blog consistently, and especially blog successfully. My company started up a blog for our social media team, let us know if you have any tips! Patience is key, instant results are nearly impossible to get, even in this instant internet world.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I agree. Thanks ! There are a lot of tips I can give. There are a lot more of tips my friends like Hesham can give. But I would be happy to help. Feel free to ask me ! Thanks for the comment !
      • Encharter says:
Thanks! Our site is http://whaleofablog.com, still starting up and we know updating it on a daily basis will be the best, but for now we're going for solid quality over quantity.
