3 Powerful Promotion Strategies to Instantly Increase Blog Traffic!

July 11, 2011 - Last Modified: April 1, 2014 by Bill Achola

Content Promotion Strategies

Every blogger and affiliates knows that, if you want to gain more traffic to your blog what you need is quality content that will make your visitors come back to your site. Since Google updated their panda system, article marketing took a different change. Now article marketing can make or break your success in gaining more traffic.

The debate around content marketing is very interesting. This is because some marketers argue that web content is dead and others suggests it’s still a powerful strategy in driving hordes of traffic. From my own experience it depends how you use it and how you implement it. In this article I will discuss how you can approach article marketing with a positive mind and end up driving quality and highly targeted traffic.

Below are some hot tips in driving highly targeted traffic with the help of a top notch web content.

(1) Keyword research

Before thinking of writing your article, you need to do keyword research, this is because it will guide you on how to select the best profitable market that you can take advantage of. Without conducting keyword research, I can assure you that you won’t be successful…no debate about it.

Below are some features that you should consider when doing keyword research.

  • Select keywords with high volume traffic and less competition.
  • Select keywords that are used by advertisers both in Google, Yahoo and MSN.
  • Choose longtail keywords for better conversion.

(2) Article writing

Once you have identified your best keyword, now you need to sit down and write your content that will attract traffic. To produce a killer article I would encourage you that you start writing your content in the MORNING this is because fresh ideas normally come in the morning hours. Let’s discuss how you can approach article writing for better results.

– Outsourcing

If you are not able to write, I would encourage you to outsource your content writing to content writers or ghost writers. Before you outsource your work make sure to review the services of your article writers, as this will help you gauge the quality of the article writer. When you outsource your work, make sure to provide all the requirements and details so that you can get the best quality.

-Do it Yourself

Do it yourself is a challenging task to new bloggers and affiliate marketers. To be successful in the said approach you need to brainstorm your niche market so that you can come up with better ideas that can flow when you write. When you do it yourself, make sure to start your writing task in the morning hours so that you can provide a quality article.
This is how you should approach content writing;

  • You should write a pillar article with a minimum word count of 1000.
  • Use your primary keyword that is directly connected to your niche.
  • Write a unique article that is of high quality

When you implement the above tips in your marketing efforts, I can assure you that you will start to increase traffic to your blog.

(3) Content Promotion

Once you have written your article, I would recommend that you post your article to your blog. After you have posted your content now it’s time to promote it so that it can gain more exposure and attract search engines robots.

Below are some methods that you should use when promoting your pillar article.

  • Guest Posting (Highly Recommended)
  • Social Media
  • Forum marketing
  • Article distribution to blog networks (very powerful)

The above four methods can really transform your content promotion and in-turn bring more traffic to your blog. What I have discussed in this article, is what I am currently using  in my blog. If you want to increase your blog traffic from search engines, I would encourage that you write a pillar article that will attract free traffic from the major search engines. Higher rankings bring more online visitors or heavy internet traffic that can be converted into potential leads.

Keyword, keyword density, keyword research.... phew.. I see this everywhere. And still, I'm not expert in this. :-( But I'm sure I'll be, soon.
  2. Anuj says:
Nice post, a good summary. However, I must add to the smart urls (generally on page optimization), like any other site look at how the SEs see your blog. For example I was wondering for quite some time why don't you use metatags at SEOmoz which causes this because of -is there a limit to links? I can't seem to get the second link to display, just click on the "repeat the search with the omitted results included." to see what I unseccussfully try to link to-(notice the same snippet on all entries) I am not actually sure if that hurts rankings but I prefer to be on the safe side.

I was getting around 100 visitors daily at my 2 months old blog but suddenly all the traffic is lost and now i m getting only 100 visitors..... don't know what to do....

I haven't yet tried the ghost blogger option yet. Quite frankly, that idea scares me. Search engines have become so strict when it comes to duplicate content, I'm not sure I could trust anyone outside of my field to write posts for us.
  8. Ana says:
Basically, to sum up - write good content. On the other hand, if one can't do that to begin with, then what is that person doing in blogging, right? Ana

Hi Bill. Great list here. I know that keyword research is very important, but it doesn't always seem that straightforward. I also plan on doing some guest posting in the near future, so I feel encouraged that you put it down as Highly Recommended.
    • Bill says:
Thanks a lot for appreciating my work i hope it will help more people.
  10. amit says:
Hey you wrote Article Submission . Somewhere on your blog recently I read about duplicacy of articles when submitted to article directories.. WHat do you have to say about it..
    • Bill says:
Sorry for late reply to make it clear you have write 3 original content and post them on the top original and Google trust sites and then you write them completely 100% 3 times then submit them to the lower article directories. I hope this help
  11. Michael says:
I personally use article marketing to promote my blog. It's so great to know that with a single article you can leverage on it to drive massive traffic. I usually convert my articles to videos and distribute to youtube and other video sites. This can bring in a bunch of targeted traffic. All the same, I'm glad you made this simple, thanks for sharing.
  12. Murray says:
Forum marketing is one of those items that everyone seems to miss out on. Never really understood that because you have highly passionate people, on the forum, that are there for hours on end - these are the perfect people to market to!
    • Bill says:
Its true i really agree with you that forum is indeed a powerful tool in marketing by providing solutions to the real problems.
  13. Extreme John says:
Content promotion is the most important factor in my opinion. This means hitting the streets and doing the work, retweeting, saying thank you, guest blogging, and more. and more. and more.
  14. Ming Jong Tey says:
I especially love forum marketing and social media for content promotion :) The key to forum marketing is to provide tons of value to the community. People can feel that! In turn they will check out more from your signature and that's how I can clicks from it. Social media no doubt is a big thing and is fun too! Sharing is caring. So, share the good stuff and people appreciate your effort.
  15. Stacey Cavanagh says:
A really comprehensive list here, Billy. I think the only thing I would add to this is commenting on blogs... not spam style comments of course. But genuine, insightful comments on other people's posts that actually add some sort of value. That along with guest posting is an incredibly effective means of networking online as well.
    • Bill says:
Thats true stacy if you combine the guestposting and blog commenting you can get hordes of traffic to your site and that is a an adedd advantage.
  16. Mark says:
The longer I am in IM, the more I see that content is big business. This makes me want to start writing articles for other sites. How does that saying go? "If you want to get rich at a gold rush, don't search for gold, sell shovels." LOL. Great article, Billy. Mark
  17. Erin Smith says:
Nice article! I like how it's easy to digest and you explain it in simplest terms. You talk about outsourcing, but I personally think it's important to maintain your voice when you're first starting out. Maybe later when you have tons of traffic and it's more on autopilot than anything would I recommend outsourcing for a blog. Thanks for the post!
  18. Iulian says:
this is pretty basic stuff, but I still think that the best way to get a lot of traffic is to write articles based on google trends. Indeed, this could be a little unorthodox, let's say, because you basically try to trick the system, but if you have a general blog, it's perfectly ok. the thing is to be first who writes about a topic and make it a great article, and the backlinks will appear pretty fast... look at mashable for example or other giant tech blogs... they write first on different topics and news and lots of guys link to them, they rank first, they got visitors, etc
  19. Andreas says:
I would go for guest blogging and replace article marketing because the guest post usually appears on a more targeted blog and also receives comments frequently so that it gets new content often, which is normally not the case when the article is posted on article directories.
  20. Dave Lucas says:
These are great tips, and you have listed them in basic form! Those "keywords' are becoming more and more elusive as Google keeps changing the algorithms... one thing i have done from time to time that seems to help is this: IF you can find an appropriate hashtag on twitter, try using it in your title: example #Blogging 3 Powerful Promotion Strategies to Instantly Increase Blog Traffic!
    • Bill says:
Mr Dave Lucas thanks for the heads up. I was requesting if you dont mind would you mind to explain more on the ''hashtag on twitter'' so that we can more about it?
  21. Bill says:
Thanks Avelina Marshall for your appreciation and feedback i hope the content will be helpful to interested people.
  22. Avelina Marshall says:
Thanks BillyBoy. These are really useful tips and tricks to improve a site's ranking and its number of visitors. I really like the idea of outsourcing the articles. Allow others to write quality content for your blog, but the article should be unique. Give them a link inside to promote them to write again for your blog. Practice of Social Media is the best and easy way to get fame so quickly and it also provides you a platform to have direct communication with your visitors. You have a chance their to make your friends your followers and regular readers of your blog. Also you can search few relevant blogs here to have link with them. And one of the most important thing which BillyBoy has shared here is Network Blogging, never forget to register your blog there. It is so powerful and increases your blog's traffic.
