How Can Guest Posts Benefit Guest Authors?

October 3, 2010 - Last Modified: April 1, 2014 by ben

Guest Post

In the blogosphere, writing “Guest Posts” seems like a really hot topic these days. Why shouldn’t it be? After all, it brings tons of advantages to both the guest author and the blog owner.

Frankly speaking, we can’t discuss all the benefits of Guest Posts in a short blog post. Hesham has a valuable resource on FamousBloggers already that covers this topic as lots of authors have written on this subject here. So, what I am going to do is, based on experience, I will share some great advantages that guest posts can bring to you if you write as a guest author.

guest post here

Guest Posts Help You Build Your Credibility:

Whether you own a blog or business website, you need to build your credibility to attract people. A site that looks like an empty cage (in terms of activity) can never bring visitors back to the site. Guest posts help you get your words out and let people know that you are alive and active. Giving a human touch (to your business website actually) is extremely important if you want to build your credibility. Don’t hide behind words and design, be transparent and build your credibility… of course, with guest posts.

Guest Posts Help You Meet New People:

So, you are alone and lonely on your blog. Guest posts help you end that. By getting your post published on an established blog, you get a chance to meet new people and create new connections. You will be able to meet wonderful people and create nice and helpful friends, seriously. I have learned that serious bloggers are very helpful people. Famous Bloggers is an example that how it’s helping new bloggers establish their own blogs effectively and successfully.

Guest Posts Help You Make Your Blog Alive:

Now, this is something really awesome. When you publish guest posts, you get to bring lots of traffic to your blog as well. Yes, you get to make your blog LIVELY too. With quality content on your blog, you will be able to bring them back to your blog again and again. Hence, guest posts allow you to get a new stream of traffic. I tell you, very valuable traffic.

Guest Posts Help You Interact After You Meet New People:

One of the best advantages of guest posting is that you get to actually communicate with people. This is just… awesome, seriously! It’s an excellent way of increasing your network of friends. Hesham pays a lot of attention to this and I have learned that it is good for guest bloggers because they also get to connect with more people by replying to their comments. What a great way of building a community of great friends! Check out the comment folder on Famous Bloggers to explore this subject in great detail.

There are definitely tons of other benefits too that guest authors must have experienced. Why not share your experience with us? If you have written a guest post – how did it benefit you?

I was surprised how much additional traffic (and backlinks!!) I got when I started publishing guest posts on my blog! It is a GREAT internet promotion strategy. Thanks for the rundown! My blog (which is also CommentLuv enabled and dofollow) thanks you! Feel free to visit it and reap some backlink love for yourself. And if you want to write a guest post, definitely let me know!
    • Ben Johnson says:
Yaa I have just started taking guest post as well and so far giving me a handsome response. Thanks for commenting Jenn
  2. Ashlie says:
Great article...I had always heard that securing guest posters for your blog was a good way to build traffic, but had never considered writing guest posts to be beneficial as well. Thanks for the info...it definitely gave me something to ponder.
    • RNasty says:
Guest blogging is beneficial for both, authors and bloggers who receive guest posts. By taking role on both sides you can fully take advantage of guest blogging.
  3. Jesse Dictor says:
And... backlinks... and PR. Given enough backlinks, you can PR almost everything. Also, remember to always spread through social media for the person. Not only does it show the blog owner a commitment to quality, but it also helps it get indexed faster.
  4. Gilberto Cintron says:
I love the concept of guest bloggers, but how does a new blog recruit folks to be guest bloggers? Everyone one to be a Guest on the most popluar blogs so the newer ones are left to fend for themselves?
  5. Harsh Agrawal says:
At the initial days of blogging..Guest blogging is really useful as it gives you instant exposure but you need to pick right blog to guest post.. More over along with guest posting one should try to build their own brand by being a part of any active community...
    • Ben Johnson says:
Ya, I have just joined commentluv..
  6. Veto Corlseone says:
Guest post not only makes u meet new people but its sucha good way of extra exposure
  7. Maria Elizabeth Romana says:
Having ComLuv installed on your blog is kind of like having mini-guest-bloggers all the time! It encourages other bloggers to visit your site, get to know you and read your posts, while rewarding them with a article link. It also encourages you, the host, to go visit their blog in return and do the same. All without all the organization and hassle of arranging a guest blog post. --Maria
    • TJ McDowell says:
That's an interesting way of looking at it. I never really thought of comluv that way, but I guess comments on other people's blog posts are sort of like mini-blog posts. If that's true, it's pretty important not to add spam comments.
      • Maria Elizabeth Romana says:
Oh, absolutely. A spammy comment will get you a backlink (if the site owner doesn't delete it), but a truly useful comment will get you a lot more, as in people might actually click on your link and come see wht else you have to say.
  8. Richard says:
As a part time blogger, guest posting really helps to keep a site alive with new posts when time constraints make it hard for you to write.
  9. Cindy says:
I enjoyed the time I made a guest post here, and be able to share some info to a wider audience. I got a few of them to visit my blog and leave comments as well. Guest posting can benefit both blog owner and poster especially if you leave a good impression on your first guest post.
  10. Will says:
Hi Ben, It seems to me that guest blogging is definitely one of those win-win situations - especially if done selectively on quality sites such as this one. Cheers Will
  11. Alex says:
Guest posts can help you out when you are all out of ideas or don't have time to write a new post. Also guest posting helps the poster to get more exposure, built reputation and the beneficiary (the blog owner) to get some great content and maybe a new friend. All in one, as someone else said it, guest posting is of mutual benefit for the blog and writer, it also consolidates your online business too.
  12. Andreas says:
Guest authors get traffic directly from the source where the article is published which is usually targeted. Also guest authors get traffic from search engines when their sites and pages that are linked in the guest articles increase in search engine rankings due to popularity.
  13. bryan says:
I think it's clear that guest posting can benefit every blogger in terms of networking and building relationship. But in terms of allowing bloggers to guest post on your blog, it really depends on your blog type. If it's a multi author blog then it is fine otherwise if you're building your own brand using your blog but you've just too many guest bloggers, then it becomes a problem. Your blog loses its identity. I know I sound 2 sided about this, but let's take Famousbloggers as an example. I believe the objective of this blog is to share what all bloggers around the internet know about blogging, SEO, internet marketing etc. Hesham as the moderator will regulate all incoming guest posts so that it is of high quality and ppl will keep coming back to see whats interesting to read.
    • Ben Johnson says:
If you are building a brand Identity and running your blog for this purpose, I slightly disagree with you Bryan. You when it comes to brand building, making relationships with other bloggers always give exposure to your blog so as your brand. The more allowance of guest posting on your blog the more traffic you will get, but the content has to be relevant or on any general topics like S.E.O, social media, marketing, guest posting etc. The more you give the more you get.....
      • bryan says:
Hmm, true.. I think the topic must be relevant to your blog content and just making sure that the content stays on track
    • Shanker Bakshi says:
i wrote once for JOHN CHOW dot com, my blog received 3500 visitors in a day, un-fortunately I failed to convert those into unique visitors.
  14. John says:
Guest blogging is a great way to get more authority and gain exposure.
  15. Fazreen says:
I have do guest blogging several times and I could agree with your points. It helps us getting new blog readers and build relationship among bloggers. the downside of guest post is we must spend some time to do guest blogging. one guest post is not enough. by the way this is a nice post.
  16. ZK says:
If you want to extend your territory than guest post is simply superb for you. This will work both ways ... if you post as guest post to other blogs or you allow other bloggers to do guest post on your blog. Both ways you and your blog will be exposed to new readers.
  17. Vee Sweeney says:
It seems as though guest posting is slowly taking over blogs linking to each other through a blogroll. Blogrolls used to be a popular method of listing other bloggers that a blog trusted and a way to gain links between bloggers. However, I do not see too many people using them anymore and I also believe that bloggers want people to give a little more for the chance for another writer to link back to their own blog- hence the guest post.
  18. Lennart Heleander says:
Hi Ben, Guest blogging is one of the best way to get new readers to you own blog. Hesham’s Famousbloggers guest bloggers have get me many new blogs to follow by this way.

      • ZK says:
Yes domain name of this blog suits this. May be Hesham first think about the idea than bought the domain. Best platform for any new bloggers if they can provide good and new thinking.
        • Lennart Heleander says:
Hi ZK, Why not.!! Guestblogging.com was already taken. But the domain name with .us .me .biz .ca are still free.
          • Hesham says:
A domain like Guestblogging.com could work in a different way, there you feel you are a guest, but here you feel famous haha!
            • Ben Johnson says:
well said Hesham, everyone feel famous here, like me. I just start writing a the guest articles here and I am getting fame :)
        • Hesham says:
You are right ZK, the idea was in my mind before I took the domain name, but as a multi-authors blog... then the Guest blogging idea came after that, it's a big bonus ;)
  19. Pritam says:
Excellent Ben. Guest post really helps many bloggers to make a recognition in the blogosphere. I think it also helps in giving authority in Technorati and building good backlinks for Google.
    • ZK says:
Through Guest posting in best blogs you can make your path easy and comfortable. Recently this is one of the best thing happened to blogger's world.
  20. Pankaj Gupta says:
Now a days, Guest Blogging is increasing and it is really good for both sides. Thanks for sharing this information.
    • ZK says:
Yes for the blog owner they will get new and unique content and also the readers of the guest poster and for guest poster they get a good platform, recognition and new readers.
  21. sujith says:
Guest blogging is a give and take policy. Both the parties are equally benefited. The important thing is that before guest blogging in popular blogs, first establish the blog with some good contents. Readers from such blogs always expect high standard.
    • ZK says:
Now a days many good bloggers also giving opportunity to new bloggers provided their contents are good and add some value.
      • Ben Johnson says:
To me the good content/article it has to be open for expansion by the reader especially when you have a readership like here, everyone is expert :)
  22. Karl Foxley says:
This is great post Ben for those seeking to understand the benefits of guest blogging. I really like how you've linked to the other great resources that have been written on the subject so that this article acts as a 'one-stop-post' for those that want to get serious about guest blogging and need the best information at their finger tips. Thank you for linking to my 'famous bloggers' post. Regards, Karl
    • Ben Johnson says:
Your post were great karl, but the credit goes Hesham again :) for linking your post, but really your post was awesome. and thanks for liking my article as well
  23. Ileane says:
Hi Ben, these are great points. I would like to add the benefit of having strong backlinks to your blog from the hosting blog. Be sure to find out how many links the host will allow in the bio and in the content area. Hesham is very generous in that regard. Some host only allow two backlinks. I know everyone likes to have control but I avoid hosts that have limits because it says something to me about their attitude in general. Along those same lines, guest posting on CommentLuv enabled blogs will help you add links to several articles as you are responding to comments. You can pick a different post for each response if you want. Thanks for the topic because I love guest posting (and guest bloggers too!).
    • Ben Johnson says:
Yes, true Ileane I agree with you on most of the points, In-fact I found few bloggers who don't even allow a single link and they ask worthless prices for them. I know the importance of back links as I am also seeks the blogs who allow free back links but to be very honest with you this is not what I look for basically, I always prefer the blog where I find interactions and happenings, and the best thing about the blogger luv community specially famousbloggers.net is that the writers and readers here are live people, and they love to talk instead of leaving cricket comments. I just open my blog for guest posting as well and I will definitely allow necessary back links to author's blog, I don't think there is any harm in that, I reckon by allowing link backs you develop more traffic and reputation in blog sphere.
  24. Ryan Biddulph says:
Hi Ben, Solid post here, you hit on key guest posting pointers. As you note this practice builds credibility in a big way. I've expanded my presence by guest posting, reached into whole new networks and build fantastic relationships with fellow bloggers. I am not a prolific guest poster since I need to tend shop at home while running a few businesses, but I like to get out there on the GP circuit once in a while. Thanks for sharing your insight. Ryan
    • Ben Johnson says:
yes, true guest post is a bit time consuming job, you have to develop some quality and useful content for you readers, as you are not the authority blogger, you depends on the authority blogger to moderate and accept a good article. And is a very tough job specially when your running your own blog and business as well, specially shops :)
  25. Jeevan Jacob John says:
First of all, Great Article Ben. I agree with you, Guest posting can helps us a lot.
