Are you using Your Brain in Blogging

November 17, 2010 - Last Modified: November 18, 2010 by Jeevan Jacob John

Blogger Brian

Content is everything. Well, no (there are certainly other factors). Creativity is another important factor in blogging. Creativity allows you to write quality content (Well, if you wrote the article with your own ideas rather than copying from others). This article deals with the importance of brain in Blogging.

Fresh New Content

Do you know what fresh new content mean?

Traffic. Of course, not all fresh new ideas are accepted at first. Your idea may be on the rejected list. But you still have created the idea. You did it, using your own Brain. Producing Fresh New content have always been dilemma for bloggers. Some bloggers find it easy while other find it hard. Easy or Hard – You need to use your Brain, no matter what.

For years, many bloggers have advised you that Social netwoking and other blogs can help you with getting new content. Most of the time, the social media – including other blogs will only help you to get new content not create new content.

Use Your Own Brain

You have a small thing in your head that can do all sorts of stuff at the same time. Use it!

Why do you need one if you don’t want to use it at all? Human Brain is capable of amazing feats. With determination, many scientists from Albert Einstein to Modern day Scientists have accomplished great deeds due to thier determination. Determine for yourself. Do you want to blog ? If you do, then continue the process, you your brain. If you don’t, close this window, shutdown your laptop and ask yourself “Why the heck did I start a Blog ?” If you find an answer, use it guide you. May it be Money-making, May it be your hobby. Whatever it is use it to guide you in the path of Blogging – Use it like a torch might be useful to you in a dark path.

BrainStorm! Create a storm in your brain. Think, think, think. Think about Blogging. Write down what comes to your mind. Make connections. Frame Your work. Write A Draft or Start writing Your actual article.

What is Your Goal ?

Before You write down your article. Think about your goal. What are you trying to accomplish? No goal?!

Better not publish the article. Your Goal may be simple as to persuade the reader on a particular issue or your goal may be Hard. Simple or hard, easy or delicate.

Make Connections

Connect Your ideas with each other. Can you make anything out of the connection i.e. any conclusions? No?!

Think about what you can say about the different things you wrote down. Connect Your goal with your body content. Connections are viral networks. They are delicate. If you use it well, you can accomplish great things.

Write…..

Write Your actual content. I would go with informal writing rather than formal. Talk to your readers. You conversational english rather than formal, written english. Speak to Your Readers !

Conclusion

If you don’t want to use your brain, fine. You can send me your useless brain to recycle and reprocess at Brain processing Inc. 😉 Use Your Brain Wisely. It will help you to succeed. After all, it is helping you to read this article. I hope that the ideas presented in this post will help you to write your next post. If it does, I am satisfied. I have achieved my goal for this post.

Hi Jeevan! Thanks for reminding us of the basics. :) It is always better to put some thought into what we're writing, and who we're writing for, instead of operating mindlessly. And you're definitely right in that everything should not be about search engines and SEO, because with great content, and well-covered topics, the SEO benefits will shine through. Always enjoy reading your content!
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Hi Vernessa, Welcome ! I am glad that I could. I agree with you. I don't necessarily look onto SEO when I write my posts (never did). Great content is the important part, not the SEO. Thanks for the comment ! I am glad that you enjoy my article.

writing a good post is the first thing to making a blog successful, and if a person cant even do that then his blog is doomed from the beginning.....nice post, a good reminder for al new bloggers....
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Agree with you, Arslan. Thanks ! Thank you for your valuable feedback !

I think using the "brain" word is not so nice, although I know what you mean by using brain, which is actually using the mind to think of better stuff then copying and modify into something new. So, is better to use the word "mind" then brain... because almost everyone had a brain... use or useless doesn't matter, because what's important is the mind. Anyway... creating new content is good but you also must think the newly created fresh content is it useful or not... you see, I rather write something that's been done with success then writing something that I think can be success, and I rather let the big guys spend their money on research of freshly new content... and I use them to modify to better understanding for others... It's all about leveraging other people's mind and use it for your own good.... remember this... It's hard to blaze a new trail when the road has already been paved !
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
You don't agree with you on that. Mind is just the psychological aspect of the body. Mind is just as important as your brain. (Actually your brain is the reason why you have a mind). I don't know about that because when you write about something that people has already written about, you will receive fewer comments, retweets etc. When you write about something new, you will get newer ideas (due to the comments, discussion etc.). People will notice you. It may not be a success but at least you created a new idea. I would much rather write about a new idea rather than an old one. Anyway, Its your opinion. Thanks for the wonderful comment !

I think the problem is the constant battle between posting frequent content and posting new or creative content. I have seen a lot of blogs out there where it can easily be seen that the posts are just to add content and take up space. Ok great, a person has ten thousand posts, but if only 10 of them actually brought the website traffic, was the time spent on those posts really worth it? Probably not. A blog without readers is just empty space in my opinion. What people need to stop doing is stop trying to please the search engines with every single post or loading the site with not so new content and just going back to basics. Write about what inspires, write new ideas and be creative.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I think so too. No, it was just a waste of time if you were writing about the same thing. I agree. Thanks for the awesome comment !
  5. Alex says:
Writing about cool new things always gets a buzz and brings traffic. That doesn't mean that old content can't bring traffic, if you write it in a different way using your brain it can. I've heard/seen some bloggers keeping a notebook or writing ideas on their smartphone to have a pool of ideas to start from when they want to write a blog, which is really cool and useful. Also, writing for your readers, just like you would be face to face with them can connect you to your visitors on a whole different level, which will bring them back again and again.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I agree. I use my agenda as my blogging planner. Planning was really helped me to write excellent articles. I agree. Thanks for commenting !
  6. Andreas says:
Sometimes when I turn on my computer I leave my brain in an idle state, because too many things are routine but this is a big mistake.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Our brain is just so amazing. I don't think we can ever be idle with it. Our brain is constantly doing work - processing all our senses, understanding of things, emotion etc....It goes on. Wonderful Brain ! Thanks for the comment !
  7. Rahul says:

  9. Hung says:
Before posting an article, i consider...the keyword. That means that my gold is..target that keyword
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Key word. That is more of a Seo thing. Key word doesn't matter at all if you are blogging. Forget Key words. Start blogging as you like it ! Thanks for the comment, Hung !
      • Hung says:
Yes, Content is king for sure
  10. Kimi says:

  12. satrap says:
For me one of the most effective ways to come up with a post is to actually start writing without any plan. I just write whatever comes to my mind and after a few minutes a pattern emerges, which I use to frame my article with. While I write I don't worry about any spelling or grammar mistakes (its a big mess and sometimes when I go back to it, I myself can't understand what I wrote or what I meant here and there, lol), I leave it as is. Then I go back to it the next day and start to edit it and fix the mistakes. It has worked great for me so far.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
That sounds interesting. (I actually do it - I thought I was the only one who actually does that - Sometimes I tend to frame my post but sometimes I just write down the title, then all of a sudden, I would just write). I haven't seen much of an error in mine (may be because I tend to say my articles before I write it down). That's a good way. I have already advised that in many of my posts - to write down and check it back later. Kind of like writing an essay draft. Thanks for the valuable feedback !
  13. Pritam says:
Great Article Jeevan. Lots of people are there in this field who really does not care about this. They tend to get lazy with time and try to modify the copied things instead of using brain for fresh ideas. They want the shortcut for blogging. But they don't know this is not good for long term blogging.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks ! I agree. All they want to do is Make money. They don't care about content or traffic. I agree. They may earn traffic now but in the future, they will surely learn a lesson.
  14. Sujith says:
Hi Jeevan, Congrats for a well written article. Molding the mind to meet targets through hard work is very important but most of the time we divert our attention to multiple targets.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks ! I agree. It helps us to write fresh, new content. Thanks for the comment, Jeevan Jacob John
  15. Patricia says:
Hi Jeevan I get a lot of my inspiration while I am blogging. If a thought or idea happens, I quickly get it down in a Word document for future posts. Then I can tweak or add to it as needed before I publish. Thanks for reminding us of our potential. Some great points covered Jeevan. Patricia Perth Australia
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Hi, Good ! That's what I like to do. I write down notes. These notes have helped me a lot to write my articles. Welcome and Thanks ! Have a great day !
  16. TJ McDowell says:
I would say that most of my creative thought happens when I'm not intentionally thinking about it. The brain will automatically think of new ideas if you train it to. Then when the ideas come, it's your responsibility to write them them or you'll forget them. Do your ideas ever come to you this way?
    • Murlu says:
I know exactly what you mean TJ - some of the best posts I've wrote have been spur of the moment; thinking about things too much will often distract you from your main purpose but when you get that spark and start writing - it always comes across as passionate which people can see.
      • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Murlu, same here. Many of my best posts are from a single thought - which came upon me accidentally. Over thinking sure is bad. Thanks for the comment !
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Yes, they do ! I have had "moments of great ideas". Like for example : When I don't get any ideas, I think about myself, I think about this world, I think about my studies (Pysch class is the reason why I wrote the motivation article). I just love those ideas. It is just like listening to a person sing when he/she is not aware of your presence. As Humans, we tend to do things better when we are alone. I have also had ideas about my projects, solutions to different problems. It just comes to the mind from now where. Thanks for the comment, TJ !
  17. Estava Morioka says:
Hi, I like these ideas. Right now I'm working on making connections. It's not happening fast enough for me, so I have to practice patience. Thanks for the advice.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Glad that you liked my ideas. Good ! Yes, you need patience with blogging. Welcome and Thanks for the awesome comment !
  18. Lisa says:
Jacob what a great post! And at 17 you are well on your way. Content is so important and making it fresh, unique and from your own mind is crucial. Excellent points.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
Thanks for the kind words ! I agree. To create fresh unique content, you need to work hard, use your brain. Anyway, Thanks for the comment !
  19. Mani Viswanathan says:
Creating content is probably the most vital part in Blogging. Leave aside SEO, if you write something from your mind & it helps others then nothing can beat it.
    • Jeevan Jacob John says:
I agree. Yes. Hard work, determination and patience will help people to write these type of article (article that are successful). Thanks for the comment, Mani Jeevan
