Learn from The Biz Chick Bloggers

February 15, 2011 - Last Modified: March 29, 2014 by Hesham Zebida

BizChickBlogs

Tia Peterson is one of the social media and blogging brave hearts. I say this because she is a very inspiring person to people who are in her circle, and I’ve decided today to free myself and write something about the big move she took recently on her blog. She succeeded in taking BizChickBlogs.com to another level and proved to everyone that she is a hard worker.

Tia made the move from a single blogger platform to a multi-author blog, and that is not all – she also moved from the Thesis to Genesis framework after doing a lot of research. I personally still admire Thesis Theme as a very big part of online business based on it’s framework, but Tia found out that Genesis is going to be a better platform for her blog.

From Single Blogger to Multi-Author Blog

Moving from a single blogger platform to a multi-author blog is not an easy job. You need to start with a good plan and enough time to make this achievement. Tia wrote her thoughts and provided some really good points about how to gracefully change directions with your blog:bizchickblogs blogging team

“To me, the really big change I see is having a blogging team. I believe in working together as the most powerful way to reach your goals faster and more efficiently! Bloggers must work together and create a powerful spot on the internet so they can all benefit from it.

This is exactly the same idea of building FamousBloggers, a strong blog that can give you a hand when you need it. Therefore we must keep it a safe place for everybody.

Hard work, big move, and it’s really worth it. I love team work, and BizChickBlogs.com has a great blogging team and editors. I feel that I must to share their profiles with you here today.

I really recommend you connect with them!”

From Thesis to Genesis

I’ve been connecting with Tia earlier before she made the move from the Thesis to Genesis framework. My discussions with her brought a lot of ideas for my online business, especially ideas for ThesisAwesome.com and what I should actually do towards having better Thesis Skins and a better business as a result.

And, to be honest, I see clearly what makes the Genesis Framework more flexible. It’s child themes and plugins are the key! I decided to work harder on adding value to Thesis Skins I am making to take it to another level of customization.

I’ve designed BlogSkin for Thesis and included all possible Multi-Author features so bloggers can depend on it to create their own customizations without having to do bloody coding work. Of course, I would prefer if someone could actually do it themselves, as it’s a way of achieving uniqueness.

Whether you are using Genesis or Thesis frameworks or any other awesome WordPress theme, you will discover it really depends on the person who manages the blog, the team behind it, and the community who participates in it. It depends on how those people work together and how much they give to the community!

If you have some difficulties in getting more guest bloggers, you need some design tips on how to prepare your blog for guest posting,  or you would like to know what exactly we’ve done on FamousBloggers to make it awesome and popular among guest bloggers, here is a nice post recommended for you. I wrote it some time ago and added all what I think is important to create an awesome guest blogging planet: Why Guest Blogging is not working for my Awesome Blog?!

Don’t forget!

Connect with Tia. She is cool blogger, a person who cares and  is ready to help others at any time. Make sure to follow the awesome blogging team at BizChickBlogs.com. There is a lot that you can learn from them as well as from the way they blog and the way they manage the blog.

Blogs are going in a new direction the blog and one needs to bet on board. Thank you for featuring the Biz Chick Blogs editorial team. Being a business owner I plan to look into Marlee Ward – Business Editor. Not all blogs are created equal.
  2. Mark says:
This inspires me. I have been wanting to move to a multi-blogger platform for a while and I accept guest posts. Just curious, Hesham. What is the major difference with respect to the Thesis and Genesis themes that makes it advantageous when compared to simply enabling user registration and setting the default permission to "author"??? Your thoughts? Mark
  3. Alison Moore Smith says:
My oldest blog (over eight years now) is a multi-author blog. I'm also a permablogger on a very popular multi-author blog. It never occurred to me that this was a hard thing to do! Just found some great writers and invited them to join. :)
    • Hesham says:
Wow! Alison, you are the first one I heard saying that :) The question will be always... "How?!"
    • Codrut says:
I think it's not easy to keep skilled crank out content for your blog , regularly. What do you guys think, how to keep good writers constantly write for your blog (maybe once or twice a month) since they already have a business/freelance career to handle?
  4. Fran Aslam From Onlinewriter says:
Hi Hesham and Tia: Nice Introduction Hesham and an awesome post you have here. I know Tia from day one when I started my current blog, I have been reading her. The new blog is a status reminder which she deserved. From her team I know two people most and they are Tia And Evelyn. I like to read both of them and they are intelligent and hard working girls. The rest of the team is good too but I need to know them better. Fran A
    • Hesham says:
That's for the awesome testimonial :) Maybe this is a chance to connect with this cool team!
  5. Mohammed Fouzan says:
Thank you so much for highlighting Tia’s achievement. She TOTALLY deserves it!
    • Hesham says:
Hi Mohammed, Her blog story is inspiring, and yes, I agree she deserves it!
  6. Rick LaPoint says:
Hi Tia, Your new site has a much more authoritative demeanor. Whatever work went into your new paradigm was surely worth it :-) Rick
  7. bryan says:
Hesham, Nice of you to come up with a review of Tia's new blog. I wouldn't say it's new but it definitely the spiced up version. Love the new flavour and direction the blog is heading right now. Did not realize she switch to Genesis but anyway, great insights into the difference between Genesis and Thesis as well. I think handling a multi-author blog is not easy and it certainly requires a lot of effort. Been looking into turning my main site to a multi-author blog recently, this article is a good start!
    • Hesham says:
Hi Bryan, It's really exciting to see more multi-authors blogs in the scene, I hope this post will help, and good luck!
    • Codrut says:
You're right, it's not easy to run a multi-author blog; here's a recent interview I did with such a bloggerhttp://authenticsocialmediablog.com/ac/devesh-sharma-multi-author-blogging-tips/Hope you guys like it, I find it very inspiring although it's quite short :)
  8. Mavis Nong says:
Hi Hesham, Thanks for introducing the BizChickBlogs team - I will be checking them out. Tia is an amazing blogger and I know she will do well with her new multi-author blog. All the best, Mavis
    • Hesham says:
You are welcome Mavis , and thanks for stopping by! I enjoy your blog
  9. Hung Hong says:
I used both Thesis & Genesis. Still waiting for Thesis 2 to see what's new but i can say that Genesis is easy to use and i love it.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Hung, I agree that Genesis is easier to use, but when talking about coding both are same level in my opinion as you deal with hacks and write down functions. Although, there is some addiction to Thesis in my blood :)
      • Tia Peterson says:
I agree with you a lot, Hesham. In fact, I'd say that Genesis & it's child themes is HARDER to customize. They do have the Simple Hooks plugin, but it's still not as good as Thesis OpenHooks or just modifying the custom functions page. Hands down Thesis is a better tool for developers. Genesis is great for publishers who maybe dabble in development, like me, but still need to have it up and running by morning, know what I mean?
        • Hesham says:
I agree on this "Genesis is great for publishers"! :)
  10. Vijayraj Reddy says:
First we should start as single author and we should make multi-author blog after we see some success..
    • Hesham says:
Hi Vijayraj, I kinda agree with you as one must gain some experience and popularity before taking this step! Add to this some management, communication and development skills to make everything more awesome! Thanks for stopping by
    • Tia Peterson says:
Agreed! I think that approach really helped.
  11. TJ McDowell says:
I think what I like about BizChicksBlogs is that the blog kept a high standard for quality content even adding additional authors. I think that's the hardest part about turning a blog into a multi-author blog (or at least it seems like that from an outsider's perspective).
    • Tia Peterson says:
That is a great compliment. Much appreciated! :)
    • Hesham says:
Hey TJ, I agree with you man, being running a multi-authors blog for a while, I can say you never expect how hard it's unless you try it yourself!
  12. Jill Tooley says:
I'm a fairly new contributor on Biz Chick Blogs, but I can honestly say that you're 100% correct about Tia and her dedication to her work. She made me feel welcome from the very beginning and has provided valuable feedback on a regular basis since then. The blogging team and editors of Biz Chick are also competent and friendly, as proved by their high-quality posts each day. I'm proud to be a part of this wonderful team! Tia Peterson continues to prove that she's an unstoppable force in the blogosphere...check out her site if you know what's good for you. She's certainly inspired me! It's great to see her (and her site) get some much-deserved recognition.
    • Tia Peterson says:
Wow! I really appreciate that, Jill. What an awesome testimonial. I might have to put that in a media kit! :) You rock. Thanks.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Jill , Thank you for taking time to put this awesome comment together! I must admit that I feed BizChickBlogs.com into my Twitter via HootSuite as a trusted blog!
  13. Andreas says:
I am a somewhat regular commenter on biz chick but only on posts I know something about (womens fashion topics are not really my topic of expertise lol). I like that they post different topics so that they have a wide audience.
    • Hesham says:
Not me either haha I enjoy most of their social media and blogging tips Thanks for stopping by Andreas
  14. Darren Scott Monroe says:
CELEBRATION!! - OK taking off my dirty boots so I don't mess up the couch <<< Rick James Dave Chappelle reference :) Talk about Sisters doing it for themselves (Aretha/Annie Lennox song) ! Tia - looks like we will be working in some circles together. Always good to see the shout out. Plus that Thesis to Genesis switch isn't surprising to me ask Brian and Sonia from Copyblogger :) really interesting stories behind the switch. Good for you. I am sure you changed for "Different" reasons" :) Marlee - Hey hey my 3T sister. My internet ears are buzzing on your site later today :) Good to see you here. Libby - I just stalked er ah I mean followed you on twitter and good luck with the new site. Evelyn - I followed you also on twitter also stalk me back LOL but in a good cool blogger connection way :) PS I am dedicating my Hamburger dinner to you my vegan sister. (I also mess with my sister who doesn't eat meat this way LOL) Christina - I also followed you and I hope your toothache gets better or less painful :) BIZ CHICKS TO THE FUTURE! :)
    • Hesham says:
Wow... I can not see my name on the list :)
      • Darren Scott Monroe says:
OHHHH yeah I forgot yeah you too Hesham LOL ! You the man! You the man! :)
        • Hesham says:
          Haha.. :)
    • Tia Peterson says:
Hey Darren - :) There are no words for the Rick James skits on Chappelle. lol Yes, I changed to Genesis because of the layout of News Theme. I LOVE Thesis but with all that was going on, I just did not have the time to replicating something like that with Thesis, otherwise I would have. I had been a customer of Studiopress before Thesis and like them both. I prefer Thesis for many, many reasons. However, I'll stay with Genesis/News until someone makes a completely custom theme for bizchickblogs! ;)
      • Darren Scott Monroe says:
LOL well Tia I am glad you liked it. And I understand the choices. One thing for sure template customization is getting cheaper so you will have that in no time. Like Erykah Badu says i know your sensitive about your "ish" . :)
  15. Lennart Heleander says:
Hi Hesham, This phenomenon is to get together and become stronger is something we will see more of in the future in the "new" blog world. We saw the same in the IT industry in the early 90s and with results like Google, Microsoft, etc. Several very good, small, smart, energy and hungry together can be as large as any. A Big Good Luck Girls.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Lennart , Some people are against working together in a group, they prefer to build their own world, but this is not me! I am a community man :)
  16. Marlee says:
Hesham! What a great feature! You're so right, Tia has done an incredible job of making the transition from a single to multi-author blog. I think a big part of the reason as to why she was so successful is because she did a fantastic job of cultivating community as a single author. As a result her transition just seemed like a natural extension of where bizchickblogs was headed. I too thought the shift from Thesis to Genesis was a big move. I personally am a big Thesis fan and I've gotten so comfortable with it I'm reluctant to make a shift to any other theme. Plus, the Thesis Skins coming out as of late have increased the flexibility of Thesis tenfold. That said, being behind the scenes in Genesis, I can say for certain that it has worked out very well for our format and contributor layout. Thank you so much for highlighting Tia's achievement. She TOTALLY deserves it!
    • Hesham says:
Hi Marlee, I agree with you, managing community requires specific skills, and I really want to point to readers that not everyone will success on this if they don't work hard for it! Talking about blog design, I think we just need to go with whatever theme that has our needs! Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a great end of the day!
  17. Tia Peterson says:
Can't thank you enough for this massive shout out, Hesham! I really appreciate it. Transitioning to multi-author blogging has been made so easy by these great ladies as well as the other many contributors! I'm just learning from the best, Hesham (aka you)! Cheers, Tia
    • Hesham says:
Hey Tia, It's my pleasure to spot the lights on your blog and efforts and introducing your awesome blogging team to FB readers and visitors, you have done great job and I hope many will learn from you. Thanks for your kind words :)
  18. Patricia says:
Hi Hesham I enjoyed Tia when she had her single platform blog and now that she has all her team around her it has definitely gone to another level. Tia is a true professional and the team around her are providing quality posts that can only see BizChicksBlog go to another level. With the variety of writers that are now on board it will also appeal to even more people now. Patricia Perth Australia
    • Hesham says:
Hi Patricia , Same here, and Tia's blog became even more exciting after joining the team, I consider this a very big step towards success! Have a wonderful day :)
  19. Evelyn says:
Hi Hesham, This is a wonderful! I appreciate your featuring the Biz Chick Blogs editorial team. Tia is a pleasure to work with and she is a hard worker. She is also a person who is willing to help in anyway she can. The editorial team is a great group of women who are definitely on the move. Thanks for sharing information about Genesis. I've been looking at Genesis, but that's it. I'm just looking. :) Have a wonderful week! Evelyn Parham
    • Hesham says:
Hi Evelyn , No problem, I follow most of you and I visit your blogs. Although, we haven't met offline, Tia and I have a great connection, and one reason for me to write this post is to deliver a message to your team to stick together, and send my wishes for your to achieve big success. Haha.. "Looking" is the right first step :) You to, have a wonderful week a head and keep in touch.
  20. Libby Fisher says:

Tia remind me with my early start when I was planning to establish famousblogger.net as a multi-author blog, that time it was only on papers, and yes.. it was a dream, now I see it true! It’s great to find people who share your dreams, so stick together and you will reach the top super fast! Good luck and my best wishes for happy blogging
