A Guest Post A Day Will Keep You Blogging Away
One of the most common methods that bloggers seem to be using these days towards traffic generation is guest posting. Guest posting is considered as an effective method of free advertising and gives the blogger an opportunity to expand into other areas over just their own blogs and be noticed. The question that needs to be asked though, is guest posting really worth it, or is it just another technique that chews up your time, and keeps you blogging away far longer than usual?
Guest posting is all about short and long term:
The only way that guest posting can be analyzed towards whether it is something useful or not; we need to focus on two things. If your intentions are short term or are they long term? To make meaning of what I am saying, we need to look at an example:
When it comes to guest posting, people are often attracted to it because where they are posting is usually far more popular than their own blogs. If the blog offers shared advertising, then the guest blogger may be able to make some money, yet alone build traffic.
In this case, this type of guest posting for money and traffic is just a short term option. All the guest poster is trying to do is make some extra money and bring in extra traffic. It’s a short hand option towards getting new readers, that won’t usually last.
All that is happening is, new readers are formed, they get bored of the content and then the guest poster published again trying to find more readers, a never ending cycle of posting. This is the point when guest posting keep you blogging away, but not for the right reasons.
Blogging away – At the least in a helpful manner:
Effective guest posting is when you seriously nurture what you are doing. This doesn’t just mean blog hopping, visiting one blog, leaving a guest post and then never coming back, this is not an effective use of guest posting and all you are doing is keeping yourself blogging away for no good.
If you seriously want to turn up a notch with your guest posting, then spend the time to write 10 to 15 posts on a blog over a period of 5 to 6 months. Why? Through this, the readers of that blog will really get in touch with you and what you have to say. You’ve just published on a blog that they regularly read for the past 5 months, it’s as though you’re an admin, they will want to visit your blog. This is an effective type of guest posting, building up real connections with readers.
