7 Solid Points On Guest Posting Over Blog Commenting

October 18, 2010 - Last Modified: October 18, 2010 by Abhishek Saini

Guest Posting VS Blog Commenting

For past few weeks back I have stop commenting on other blogs. I have made a rule for me if I found post deserve a comment and need sharing then only I go for that.I consider guest posting is far better then blog commenting. I am not against blog commenting as many blogger have build a brand using it and develop relation among each other. Even I also participated in it with full heart. The blog commenting also needs a techniques while doing it but now I am going to share points which will reveal why guest blogging is much better then blog commenting.

1. High Traffic:

So tell me, what do you think which will give you more traffic to your blog..

Guest Posting Or Blog Commenting?

I guess the answer will be guest posting only and it is. The traffic which you will get from guest posting is no where near blog commenting. I have got 100 of visits from 1 guest post when I did it in the beginning while getting maximum 5-10 visits from blog commenting which is no way near guest blogging traffic. So you have to focus more on it as everybody wants traffic to his/her blog.

2. Build Better Relation:

So again tell me, what do you think which will build better relation with blogger and readers “Guest Blogging Or Blog Commenting?” The answer again will be guest posting. It is a fac,t if you guest post you get link with all the readers of blog including blog owner but if you do commenting then you got only link up with post owner only. I have found guest blogging builds better relation as compared to blog commenting. This will increase your sharing area.

3. Easily Become Top Commentator:

If you are riding yourself in the race of top commentator of blog then guest posting will make it easier for you. Not easier better to say easiest. When you guest post it is most likely you will receive comments and you will reply them all. This comments will automatically will make you at the top commentator list. This is the most easiest way to look yourself into top commenting list on any blog.

4. Readers Will Know You Better:

So once more tell me, what do you think readers will know you better through blog commenting or guest posting? The answer is again guest posting. Nobody can judge you well by seeing your comments but can know you better by seeing your post. It is also very hard for people to have an eye on your comment while guest pasting makes it so easier. So if you are really serious on creating better relation with blogger and readers then go for guest posting instead of blog commenting.

5. Increase Your Network:

I have seen FamousBlogger growing rapidly while other blog takes years to do this. The only difference is the networking done on this blog is best. Different bloggers find this as one of the best place to connect and share post. Guest blogging is much better way to widens your network as compared to blog commenting. I hope now you will also start guest blogging.

6. Increase Your Subscriber:

Blog commeting will help you in giving more subscriber. To be frank I have got 50 – 100 visits from 1 guest post out of which I have got 5 – 10 subscriber as I know if someone visit my blog then for sure he/she will like the helpful content.Content is king for sure on which you need to work first but marketing is queen which you can’t miss. Actually what I want to say you need to focus on both and do something that will increase your subscriber. Guest posting is one of the strongest tool as compared to blog commenting that will help you a lot.

7. Build Better Brand:

I have seen one blogger Onibalusi Bamidele growing rapidly mainly because of guest posting. His post related to niche can be seen all over blog. Guest posting is main reason through which he has build his brand, growth rapidly while other bloggers take years to reach same level. So guest posting is the really important as compared to blog commenting which you need to start right from now if you haven’t started.

My Message:

To those who hasn’t started guest posting, start it now for better exposure for your blog. I just wants to say focus more on guest posting as compared to blog commenting.

Right, guest post will make you to build better brand and you will get better exposure...
  2. Ryan says:
Do you think that backlinks from the body of a post are also worth more than the comments even if the poster is using a dofollow for comments?
    • Chris says:
      I think you are right Ryan! Links in the body of a post do count more than comment links.... =}
  3. Mani Viswanathan says:
You are spot on about the Top Commentators list point. These points encourages me to start Guest Posting. P.S. Hesham watch out, you may receive my first guest post for review :P
  4. Jasmine says:
Oh yes, I agree with you. Looks like I need to start guest posting also! But, what should I write... any suggestion? :)
    • Abhishek says:
Hi You can get post ideas by having an eye on your competitor blog, stumbleupon, digg. You must write about which you are good at or share your practical experience.
    • Mani Viswanathan says:
For guest posting HowTo posts, tricks are the best in this niche.
  5. Isabel Rodrigues - Pro Blogger Journey says:
Abhishek Excellent post. Thought blog commenting is good in its own right but it seems Guest posting is the need of the day.
    • Abhishek says:
Hi Isabel Rodrigues Yeah guest posting is must. Thanks
  6. Steve says:
Some great points about writing guest posts. I belong to the keyword academy and they have a really nice system for guest blogging. There are also some free services like the Blogger Link Up and My Blog Guest. Readers should take a look at these options.
  7. Matthew Needham says:
Hi Abhishek I think that guest posting is something I need to do far more of. Thanks for this reminder! Matthew
    • Abhishek says:
Hi Mathew You are always welcome
  8. Alex says:
Great article Abhishek, I do think that guest posting is better in makeing relations and helps you more in the long run, but you missed one point, while guest posting does help you more then commenting it does take more time then the last. And I also think that blog commenting should be done to complement guest posting and should not be compared because this two are not practicably the same. Both guest posting and commenting server their own purpose.
    • Abhishek says:
Hi Alex This is great and sure guest posting has to be more for creating relation. Thanks For Great Comment
  9. Latief says:
You should read my article about benefits from leaving comment while blogwalking here on famousbloggers ;) Guest Posting is great but you can't stop leaving comment. Leaving comment is great to start a new relationship and new connection with other blogger :) Leaving comment sometimes is like writing an article, but you don't get your name as an author, but good and high quality comment will show your quality. Thanks for sharing bro :)
  10. Richard says:
No doubt, the readers will get a larger sample of your content from a guest post and thus be more influenced to come to your site if you wrote something compelling. However, commenting can build that community connection with small snippets of content at a time. With commenting you can spread yourself around to many blogs in a relatively short amount of time.
  11. Alex Panait says:
    8. SEO - Guest posting is also better for building links. A link within a post is better than a link in the comments area that if is dofollow, because most of the blogs use nofollow for commenting.
    • Isabel Rodrigues - Pro Blogger Journey says:
      Your absolutely correct Alex Panait
    • Abhishek says:
Hi Great point and dofollow link are very important to get higher ranking in search engine. Thanks for making it here
  12. TJ McDowell says:
I usually try to take time and make high quality comments, but you're probably right about people building a relationship more with a guest poster than with a commenter. I didn't even think about it until reading your article, but it's probably rare that anyone other than the blog author actually reads my comments.
  13. Mike says:
I think you will have to combine both :) Guest posting just allows you to build one link at a time while blog commenting can build 30 backlinks in a day (if you try hard enough :)) However, if you compare guest posting and blog commenting based on which method will increase the number of RSS subscribers, I think guest posting will win.
  14. Kimi says:
I tend to be different here :) In my blog's niche, i believe guest posting won't work that well comparing with other "blogging, seo tips" blog owners. Because my big part of subscribers and visitors are really WordPress newbies, so they mostly find my blog in big G. Thanks for these useful Tips.
  15. Rahul says:
Guest posting is absolutely more effective than blog commenting ! !!! *it's all about experience , so once you get enough informations you will end by noticing many thing you already have mentioned !!!
  16. Anna says:
Why not strike a balance? Sure, guest posting is better than blog commenting, but how many guest posts can you reasonably produce in a single day? With all the work that you have to do on your own blog, not to mention whatever work that you have to do for your day job and your other commitments, you have some serious burnout issues waiting for you at the end of the road if you rely entirely on guest posting for your link juice. Blog commenting, on the other hand, is easier to do, doesn't take research, and doesn't take a lot of time. Guest posting is definitely great, but don't underestimate the power of blog commenting.
  17. Pritam says:
I agree that Guest posting is better than blog commenting but writing a guest and writing a comment is not same thing. You have to do a lot of research and hard work while you have to guest post on some blog. Its more complicated if this is the famous blog like this one but commenting does not take so much effort as you have to share your thoughts for the topic you read.
  18. Patricia says:
Interesting take on gues tposting v blog commenting. I have read several posts on this debate. I am in a small niche so the opportunity to guest post is limited. Also until a blog owner knows a person (usually through interacting with commenting on their blog) I don't think they would be keen for a person to guest post for them. I love commenting on other blogs as I am meeting other bloggers and learning at the same time. However, I also enjoy meeting guest posters and if I find the post well-written with salient points that will improve my own blogging then I will usually check out their blog too. So I feel that I am in a win-win situation with commenting and enjoying the guest poster's article :-) Patricia Perth Australia
  19. Marios says:
Guest posting is great, however you need to network with the owner of the blog before he/she lets you guest post on their blog. So first you have to give (commenting) so you can get (guest posting) in return, nothing is for free Cool stuff Marios
    • Kevin Martineau says:
I absolutely agree with you Marios! We need to be willing to be part of a blog community before we will get the opportunity to write a post for it.
  20. Jeevan Jacob John says:
Hello Abhishek, You have got good points here but I don't agree with all of it. Guest Blogging is better than Blog commenting but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't comment. (By the way, you are losing good content when you write in other blogs - but this may not be a big thing when you write for bigger blogs such as Famousbloggers - You gain reputation and subscribers). One must also note that all Guest posts are not successful. Moreover Guest blogging is much harder - You have more tension and stress while writing a guest post. Commenting is another aspect. You don't have "good or bad comments" in the blogosphere unless you are considering a spam ("hi there, great content" comments). You can comment just on any good blog post and there are a lot of it. If you study closely each comment is like a micro-blog post. Each comment can trigger a new idea. I do certainly agree with your points (but not all aspects of it). Commenting or Guest Blogging ? If you ask me I will go for both. Best of all, I don't care about link backs so I don't want to comment on the Top commenters part. (You may only get into the list if you have a lot of comment which is equal to good content) Anyway, Great Article. Jeevan Jacob John Note : Nice meeting you, hope we can connect in the future.
  21. Sujith says:
It's a very informative post. We should not under estimate the blog commenting. In popular blogs we can see some regular commenters are more popular than the authors. People always follow them.
  22. Karan Labra says:
Guest blogging is far more complex and requires more work and hence it is not surprising that it will get you more traffic as compared to blog commenting. Anyways thanks for the points.
    • ZK says:
Well I saw many blog posts written by many new bloggers and believe me those posts were really impressive.
  23. Gabriele Maidecchi says:
I totally support your thought, even though it's surely easier to comment on an article you read and find interesting rather than creating new content altogether, especially while you have to provide content for your own blog as well. I believe, however, that it's well invested time, I promised myself I'd get my mind into it soon and I see the time approaching ;)
    • Karan Labra says:
I am in total agreement with you Gabriele well guest posting is the best way to brand your blog as per current trends.
  24. Harsh Agrawal says:
Guest posting is great for exposure and backlinks but to go viral you ca consider blog commenting..I had amazing success with Blog commenting..I remember at Initial days of blogging I used to comment on literally every blog in my niche and that helps a lot in both SEO, Exposure and also getting subscribers... If you are planning for guest posting it's good to start with a proper campaign.. Lets say 7 days 0r 14 days of guest posting campaign in which one should target to put atleast 7-10 guest posts on different popular blogs...
  25. ZK says:
Certainly Guest posting is way ahead from commentator. Guest posting give you authority so definitely this one is quite effective than blog commenting. But yes if you keep adding valid points and valuable comments on all posts than you can establish yourself as well ... and people would love to read your comments to know your thoughts about any particular post.
  26. Moon Hussain says:
Solid post there. Yes, these are all the advantages to guest posting but also remember, it takes much harder work since you want to put out great material. #3 is a good one, I hadn't thought about it that way...
    • ZK says:
Yes for point no 3 we see too often here at FB as well. Guest blogger become top commentator for one or two days.
  27. Lennart Heleander says:
Hi Abhiskek, You are right about that guest blogging give more, but you must have time to write interesting and good articles otherwise it’s wasted of time. And so funny the blog world had been, if it was only articles and no comments. It needs two to dance tango.
    • ZK says:
In any field, to get the success you will have to deliver your best and I think guest posting is also coming under the same category.
  28. satrap says:
Those are some good reasons you mentioned Abhishek for doing gust posting over commenting. However, I would suggest pick a few good dofollow blogs and limit your blog comments to those. In my experience I have gotten much better results focusing only on a few quality blogs. @ Tristan Higbee, I would volunteers, but the only thing standing in a way is that although you could write one post a day, the blogs you want to guest post may not review and publish them quickly enough or worse yet may not approve them. Well, I guess you could deal with that somehow though.
  29. benin says:
Hi Abhishek, Great post. To be honest I never thought about it in an "either-or" scenario. But now that you mentioned it I've noticed that so many bloggers have no follow blogs now that outside of the comment luv enabled sites its difficult to get any SEO benefits from commenting these days. Whereas I couldn't imagine the links in a guest post being no follow. Thanks for the good read!
    • ZK says:
Yes many blog owners do not want to pass link juice even in guest post. But yes you will get maximum exposure and that one is quite important.
  30. Tristan Higbee says:
I agree that guest posting is definitely the way to go (and I realize the irony of me posting a comment to say that...). I wonder how much traffic and how many subscribers you'd get if you wrote one guest post a day for a month. It'd make for an interesting case study. Any volunteers?
