Generational Media Consumption (Infographic)

Generational Media Consumption

It’s hard to believe media has almost completely taken over our entire lives. But it’s true. Everywhere we go, whatever we do, media’s influence has taken its place, in some form or another. Well, unless you’re sleeping, which is besides the point.

The amount of media consumption I’ve been able to intake, has got me talking in sort of a robotic form. It seems I’m only talking about what I read in the media and nothing else. I feel like sometimes, I really have no life because most if it is spent on the Internet.

Ad Age and MBA Online pulled their efforts together for this awesome piece. It illustrates when media is consumed across different generations. Young or old, the advancements in technology have found their ways to cater to all generations.

Parents now have the use of Facebook, Twitter and other social networks to communicate with not only their children but their relatives as well. It’s amazing to see how far along we’ve come in terms of communication and connection. Perhaps we have the media to thank.

Wow, great infographic. It looks like... the older you get the more TV you watch, and the later two groups are watching more TV than the Millennial groups by significant portions. When you get to the youngest group though (very young children), the TV watching sort of spikes back up.

I guess you never really see the true impact of media on you unless you take some time out to really think about it...or an inforgraphic like this caught your attention. I guess that's why billions are spent on advertising.

Wow, the infographic is amazing. Watching it I have realized that the power of media has already pushed through their boundaries in our daily lives. From a mere entertainment into a vague predator. It has consumed our entire energy which is supposed to be spent with our family in one table. Yes, there are ton of good and helpful stuff we can get from them, like keeping in touch with my mom in a far state, checking for the latest news, or closing a business deal in a click. But as far are the benefits has its peak, so as the demise does. The good thing is it can be stopped. That is by setting up a time limit to stay on and only doing the purpose of being there. And especially restrictions and monitoring for the iGEN. Life in the 80's is very simple and lonely. No iPads, androids, hybrids, and facebook! However, people are still connected in a way that today's generation may find difficult to understand. I even thought that people on those years are happier than today regardless of the technology. They have defined the true meaning of joy, spends more time to laugh and less time to argue.
