    I am sure you can say that this deal was the deal of the year. People who got 80% OFF will enjoy it. We hope Hostgator will bring more such offers too often ;) But however you should also give a try to your local or your country's hosting provider.

    I am sure many people have switched from their old hosting to hostgator or its quite possible than many of them is now having two hosting provider. I am sure their clients base increased to many folds with this discount offer.

    From an SEO perspective, you need to be VERY careful during your move to another host. I'm guessing there's plenty of info on recommendations for moving to not get penalized by search engines. I didn't read those articles before I switched the first time though. I lost rankings for at least a month. Dropped completely off the Googlesphere. Shoot me an email if you have any other questions, but the general rule is that you need to keep both hosts up for a while so Google has a chance to see the DNS change.

    Several of my friends got 80% off but it was really hard as HostGator that time seemed DDosed with huge amount of traffic but 50% is steal and I would recommend you guys to get it or forget it :-)

    There were 1oo accounts with 80% off lol,host gator sucked in alot publicity,any site mentioning this was prob using an affil link. If you tried to get more than one deal ,you're out of luck they check your address and payment method.Using a different email doesn't work 80% of the time. Nice little scam by host gator,still next year I'm guessing people will be far wiser to their BS. Apparantly the servers couldn't handle the load when the 80% deal went on(and it showed 80% on the site,albeit very briefly) all for a mere 100 80% off accounts. So I'm expecting alot of people to wake to verification needed emails today as they try further to bail out of the deal..

      I would suggest keep a track of time and try to aim for 80% off...If you able to get it within time its good..Else after 80% time slot...50% will get into picture :)

      We are going for a Reseller (Silver plan) & a Shared (Business plan) The discount is just awesome. btw check the Reseller thing again, they don't provide for 3 yrs. The max they provide is 2 yrs.

      I was thinking the same thing about getting the reseller account with 80% discount. I missed it though. I was waiting for 5am, but I never saw it. Talked to someone on their LiveChat that said it was only a certain amount of plans available and that they alle went in 10 min. So the chance of saving 80% was just for 10 min. :(

        What happened with me is worth than what happened with you :) Because.. I SAW the 80% but when I hit the buy button the page went down! People got pissed off and heat up HostGator twitter stream! HostGator guy was apologizing for bla bla.. it was probably 100 account only! (not sure, but heard someone tweeted that HG removed a tweet mentioning limited 100 accounts at 80% ) Well.. maybe next year Thomas!
