What After One Year of Blogging

December 19, 2010 - Last Modified: February 14, 2013 by Hesham Zebida 1,935

One Year Blogging

If you already passed one year of blogging for income, then it’s the right time to ask yourself: What I have done? And what’s next? What I will do after one year of blogging?

Look back to the past to see what you have done, and learn from what happened during your fist year of blogging, collect all the information you can get from the past one year, analyzing the inputs and outputs of this data will help you on creating and planning the feature of your blog.

Lucky you, you should really celebrate just because you are still blogging, you passed the hardest year of blogging, you are a true blogger, and you are still alive!

In this post, I will speak my mind, I will talk about last year as I consider it the first year in the life of FamousBloggers, I remember the launch of the blog was at October 2009 when I first moved to the States, and the real work started right after that, so let’s say this is our first year of blogging.

What Happened in 2010?

year one blogging

In 2010, our first year of blogging was really amazing, it was all witnessed by our community of early members and loyal readers, we have done some crazy blogging activities to spread the blog and achieved great stats regarding to number of posts, comments and general traffic.

Here are some interesting stats..

content and discussions statsAs you can see above, we have reached 500+ blog posts and 25.000+ awesome comments!

members of FamousBloggers.netWe have 261 bloggers who have contributed for FamousBloggers, the other number of “subscribers” is indicating people who have registered and they haven’t contacted me to ask for account upgrade, I have to mention that some of them registered for no clear reason. I think I will be contacting them to clear their situation before deleting their accounts, as maybe some of them are struggling to guest post, and from the other side I don’t really want to have un-necessary user accounts for non active members in the database.

So, if you have registered an account with Famous Bloggers and you would like to upgrade it so you can guest post for FB, plz contact me to let me know.

FamousBloggers Traffic based on Google Analytics

Above is FamousBloggers traffic stats based on Google Analytics for Nov. 2010, as you can see we are getting around 1000/day , it’s the time to think seriously on converting this traffic in a better way!

FamousBloggers traffic sources overviewAs you can see above, this is Famous Blogger’s traffic source overview based on Google Analytics also for Nov. 2010 , this graph shows that we are getting 42.66% of our traffic from search engines, which is a good thing, but of course, I would like this to be something around 60% to be great, I think this could happen with extra SEO attention. Also, I imagine during the next year we will be able to achive better search engine traffic as number of articles will increase, hopefully we can reach 1000 articles soon!

Almost Five Figures on the First Year

Many of my blog readers and friends were asking me if this blog really makes good money. Well, it’s not my nature to talk about numbers and showcase how much I really earn or lose, this is why I never published a monthly revenue report on this blog before, probably the main reason is there is nothing too much to talk about, but it’s obviously clear that there is something going on all the time.

five figures blog income

Anyways, I am going to share with you only what I can as I don’t consider this net profits, it’s just blog income, and numbers do not really matter in this stage.

So, if you are curious to know how much FamousBloggers did during 2010, I am honored to tell you that my reports indicates FamousBloggers income was almost reaching five figures, this actually means a lot to me. However, I don’t really consider this as a profit as I said above, it’s only blog income, and I must point to high expenses as I explained in the truth about blogging for money post I’ve wrote before.

Life Expenses Kills Profit.. The Challenge!

The Blog income is good, but life expenses are killing profits, today’s challenge is NOT how to make money from blogging or marketing products, you can say I’ve learned some good techniques and ways of making money that work for me. Of course, learning is a continual process, so I will never ever stop learning to grow my online business. You also should do the same!

So what could be the real challenge after one year of blogging?

The real challenge I am facing right now is paying the bills, the real challenge for me is to make my full living online, I am a full time blogger, web designer and marketer, this means I should be able to profit and live from my online business. And again, this also what you should try to do.

Here is my advice!

I say this to myself before telling to you…

I know life is not easy, some times you reach your goals, many times we fail, but the clever person in my opinion who never give up trying, so be smart and just do it, there are always ways to achieve your goals, there is more than one way, keep trying till you discover what works, share knowledge with others will help you learn more, don’t be afraid to spend money, spend it to earn more!

I am going to list below the most recommended products that really changed my life!

Best products for Bloggers & Marketers in 2010

I consider myself lucky by finding out about these products, I consider myself even more lucky because I actually use these products, these were the best products for 2010 I used on my blogs and I’ve earned from it in several ways, E.G. affiliating and recommending it to my blog readers and clients, so I thought you might want to know about it, and probably you want to put your hands on these amazing products for more success at 2011, so here is my reviews and posts I’ve published about it, and I’ve made money from it:

  • Thesis Theme Framework, read what pro web designer say about it.
  • Popup Domination plugin, read my review
  • OptimizePress Theme, the best theme to create sales pages
  • ElegantThemes , 40 plus WordPress themes in a affordable price

Famous Bloggers Evaluation

Two weeks back I bought the 72 offer which has a 23 great resources at a very low price, I actually knew about this from David Risley. David was offering a free blog evaluation video as a bonus for those who get this offer through his affiliate, I liked this idea and here you go, you can watch his blog evaluation video for FamousBloggers over his blog by clicking the link below, see what David had to say about FamousBloggers then come back to continue reading my post, I really have a lot to tell you today, so don’t miss it.

David Risley's blog

Special thanks to David Risley for the good advice in his FamousBloggers blog evaluation video.

David actually gave me some nice and useful advice, I am so sure it will increase my email list opt-in through the popup and the sidebar form, and of course as a result this will allow me to make more money. I know I should follow this advice and offer something for free to my blog new visitors to encourage them to join the email list and stick the blog into their minds, but I don’t have anything that really worth and I don’t want to give them another free crap, although I am still working on it, I need your advice, I mean what should my ebook be about? (I really appreciate suggestions, so if you have any, plz add a comment and tell me about it)

Another point by David, which is the crowded look and feel of the blog. Yes it some times looks like a Christmas tree with all the flashy advertisement and promotions, and I am having hard times connecting with advertisers asking them to put the volume down and make their ads more quite as this is really annoying. But one important step I am going to take during 2011 is to at least reduce advertisement on the blog if not remove them completely, I just need some time to find a better income alternatives as I need to keep the cash flow of the blog.

So, basically I am going to increase advertising prices and reduce ads spots to solve this problem for my blog readers as they comes first. I am going to give it a try, if I can succeed on this then it’s a win win situation for everybody, advertisement will even achieve a better CTR which will make my advertisers more happy to place their ads.

Another good bit of advice from David was the one about CrazyEgg.com, probably he didn’t know, but I am using it on the blog, I am measuring and watching where my blog visitors click on the blog, I usually do alot of modification to the blog design based on CrazyEgg reports, and it’s really useful, it helped me a lot to enhance the overall performance of this blog.

I’ve done a few changes for FamousBloggers during the last  few days, I’ve removed some annoying advertising and promotional elements from the design, it’s more quiet and relaxing now, don’t you agree?!

I removed the promotional box from the front page, and replaced that with another box to show the active and top contributors next to the hot discussions of the month block, which I think it’s awesome, maybe I need to remove myself from the list, but what the heck? I am also an active contributor 🙂

I made some modifications to nice code I found to display the most active contributors depending on the number of posts or guest posts they have written for FamousBloggers , and because I’m always trying to feature our contributors by the best way I can, I decided to link their avatars to their website as a kind of reward, this is absolutely another DoFollow link that you might like to get, and the only way is to guest post more often, just remember… Quality comes before Quantity!

Top Contributors

I also added the promotional for what I consider top products for bloggers and marketers right below the top navigation, I added it with a soft gray color and a nice mouse over effect, so it’s not so annoying anymore, and I will not hide the fact that more visitors are clicking on it in a very short time after I made the changes. It’ looks amazing compared to the other box on the front page, well… It’s no longer there and I actually don’t want to remember how it looked like anymore, so just forget it 🙂

I hope you like these modifications!

Hi John, Certainly I will include traffic generation tips that I have been following! Thank you so much and you to have a wonderful Christmas. To your success at 2011
  17. Vee says:
Your comments are coming in I think due a lot to using Keyword Luv...a lot of blogs use it, but not enough of them. It gives users that option while letting them be part of your community.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Vee, A lot of blogs are using it, but not enough of them? I didn't get this well.. You mean there is not enough blogs using it?! mmm.. but what makes people visit this blog and add connect? I don't think it's keyword luv alone! or then I will be removing a lot of comments :) Keyword Luv is an excellent plugin, it help on increasing comments and reduce spam, I usually remove non value and non related links from the comments!
  18. Icechen1 says:
Wow, that's sweet. Grats on the success!
    • Hesham says:
Thank you :) my wishes to for success at 2011
  19. Ryan says:
Wow, I'm blown away by how many comments your blog received in just one year... this is my first time here, but it looks like you've put a ton of work in your blog for just 365 days... kudos and keep up the good work.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Ryan, glad to have you here for the first time, it was an interesting year! Thank you for the visit, keep in touch!
  20. Jarret says:
Hey Hesham, great start for the first year! For you, your design skills are definitely top-notch. I would suggest looking for ways to increase your monetization on blog designs. Obviously, with ProBlogger and others jumping on the Genesis bandwagon, it's probably a great time to adapt your Thesis awesome skins to the Genesis framework. Time consuming though probably... Selling skins for premium themes has worked out very well financially for many and your designs are definitely the best I've seen. Haha, you reminded me of a funny situation. On my personal blog, someone contacted me months ago asking to buy a direct ad. At the time, I wasn't experienced with selling direct ads, so I just gave the guy a low flat rate for a month for a top banner ad. Turns out the guy kept changing the ad making it look increasingly more loud and embarrassing! Worse yet, as loud as the ad was, he sort of blended it in with my theme. He emailed me five times a day asking about post stats from my Google Analytics too... As for your Ebook, I think you've done some really cool customizations to your site's design. Maybe you could include some CSS and PHP customizations to do some of the cool tricks on this site without giving away too much, of course.
    • Hesham says:
Hey Jarret , That you so much for your time, it's actually a good idea to jump in Genesis theme development, I am looking forward to it right after finalizing my e-book. Haha.. you really have to deal with some advertisers with care :) Talking about the book, and because you've mentioned that particular part, I want to let you know that I have in mind a crazy idea, I won't share it now in this early stage as I am not sure 100% about it, but it's really crazy one and unique :) ....... but I will put your input in mind, awesome! More power to you my friend, and I hope 2011 will come with more success to both of us.
  21. Diana says:
Google is your first source of traffic. thats really neat. i congratulate you.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Diana, Yes.. we have doing good on Google as we use all SEO power we can get for the blog! Thank you so much for your visit, more power and success to you!
  22. Kharim says:
Mr. FamousBlogger, I don't have much to say, but all I can say is that I am very impressed and congrats on the success. Keep up the good work. I'm really proud of you :)
    • Hesham says:
Thank you Kharim, I really appreciate you being part of the community! More success to you my friend
      • Kharim says:
        You're welcome Hesham :)
  23. Shariq says:
Congratulation Famoubloggers.net on completing first year. FamousBlogger is really must follow blog for bloggers.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Shariq, Thank you for the visit, I appreciate it!
  24. Pascal says:
Hesham! Happy to know how you are doing well in this blog! First of all, I appreciate you for your hard work and dedication to build awesome community here. I will contact you soon with the information about what I can sponsor for the content. Definitely I am going to sponsor something valuable for your upcoming contest. Regarding your ebook thought - As you are being a good designer, i will suggest you to launch your own free theme or skin for the subscribers instead writing an ebook. It can help you not only build list but for brand too. David Risley's evaluation definitely should have put something on your end and I hope you should have already decided what to do. One thing, I would like to tell you is, here all suggestions but at final, go with you own decision. Again, I appreciate you for your hard work and building a five figure income too! In my end, launching a membership site and published 170+ video tutorials was great achievement. Keep up your hard work! Thanks!
    • Hesham says:
Hey Pascal, glad to hear from you buddy! I am following you since the beginning and I know all what you have been doing, amazingly you have controlled Thesis world through videos :) Thank you so much for your input and suggestions, I actually have a little plan to cover this, but I am not so sure about creating my own WordPress theme, to be honest I think I can not handle it's development once I release it, but it's something to consider! P.S. I am not sure if you know, but I only accept cash prizes from sponsors, so if you can jump in let me know! To more success at 2011
  25. Justin Germino says:
Congratulations Hesham, I think your income and stats for the year were fantastic, I am ending my 2nd year with DragonBlogger.com and both years combined didn't reach the 5 figure blog income (of course not profit) for the year. I continue to see FamousBloggers becoming more popular on a weekly basis and your Alexa rating is finally under 10k which is impressive in its own right.
    • Hesham says:
Justin, we have been connecting since time now.. and I don't have a doubt that you are doing amazing job, especially your last move! We need money to live, but we don't live for money, so it's not really about how much we can make if we can get what we need! Yeah, just went under 10k like a months ago or so, awesome! I wish you great success my friend, and more power to you at 2011
  26. Pavithra says:
Congrats Hesham! I am visiting your site for the first time. The design is really good. I think hereafter i'll visit the site often. The contents are good. Keep going. All the best.
    • Hesham says:
WOW.. a first time visitor :) Thank you Pavithra for the kind visit, I hope it will not be the last, keep in touch!
  27. Alison Moore Smith says:
January 1 will mark my 8th year as a blogger. I guess I should have asked this question ages ago!
    • Justin Germino says:
Wow, 8th year as a blogger really? I didn't even jump on the blogging wagon until mid 2008.
    • Hesham says:
That's awesome Alison, more power to you! Yes, this question helps me a lot, I mean look at all these mazing feedback, opinions, through and ideas!
      • Alison Moore Smith says:
Ah, thanks guys. It's amazing how far things (like the technology!) have come. My first blog was pre-WordPress and I actually (true!) ran a MANUAL blog for a number of months. Meaning we wrote, people emailed responses, and I manually edited the HTML to include the comments. Ack!
        • Hesham says:
          No problem Alison, keep rocking!
  28. Isabel Rodrigues - Pro Blogger Journey says:
Hello Hesham Firstly congratulations to you for running such a successful blog. I like visiting your blog for a number of reasons. I just find your blog design amazing and very pleasing to my eyes. The blog content I find here is amazing and very unique. • Hesham says:
Hey Isabel, Glad to hear your thoughts about the blog, I really appreciate it, my wishes to you for a big success at 2011
  29. Brian L. says:
Having achieved so much in just one year is no small feat! I think one of the main reasons for your great achievement is you manage to pull together like-minded bloggers and build a cohesive community right in your blog. I just got to know about your blog few weeks ago and I think I am becoming one of your supporters already :)
    • Hesham says:
Hi Brian, actually I do a lot of stuff behind the scenes with my blog team , fellow bloggers and readers! It's honor to have you as a member in our community :)
  30. Michael Aulia says:
Congratulations! It's definitely a lot to achieve in just a single year! Five figures? Wow, I honestly didn't expect that coming. All the best for the next year and I'm sure this blog will grow even bigger!
    • Hesham says:
Hi Michael , almost five figures, but as I said it's only a blog income and not profits, I think I spent more than half of this money already on the blog! Thank you my friend, and my wishes to you for more success at 2011
  31. Nasrul Hanis says:
wow.. it's already one year.. and to be sincere there's a lot of great things happened through Famous Bloggers, Hesham! Yeah.. life is not easy and we have to keep moving and upgrading from time to time where we shouldn't stay at the same level all the time! Congratulations Hesham and let's moving on with new fresh ideas, contributions and more profits! :D
    • Hesham says:
Hi Nasrul , yes it one year already passed, I wish this year was a little longer so we can make more earnings in it haha Thank you my friend, and I wish you a big success at 2011
  32. James Johnston says:
Congrats on making the 1 year mark and having such a successful blog! This place is one of my favorite places to visit daily and I have learned so much from all of the contributors! I like the new contributor mod on the top of the home page. It looks good and helps out all the author who contribute the most... Send me an email once you guys figure out whats need to sponsor the next contest...
    • Hesham says:
Hey James, Thank you buddy for your great support, glad you make it to our top contributors :) I will email you details about sponsoring the contest soon!
  33. TJ McDowell says:
I can't believe the blog has only been around for a year. I ran across the blog from the commentluv site, and I thought it had to be at least 3 or 4 years old. One thing I think you've done REALLY well is to encourage community involvement. As far as the money coming in vs what's going out, that's always the hard part with any business. It seems like it's especially difficult for bloggers because there are so many bloggers in the marketplace. I recently red a book from Seth Godin called The Dip. It talked about getting through the dip in resources before you'd get to the mountain top. It's hard to do, but that's why there are so few people that make it to success.
    • Hesham says:
Hey TJ I can not believe that to :) and yes my friend.. not everyone will succeed! I can not hide the fact that I didn't calculate anything regarding this niche before I start, it was a plan to succeed no matter what! Now I am suffering from this but there is no way to go back, the good thing is somehow it's working for me, but of course what's coming is also a very hard part, I appreciate sharing your insights about the book, inspiring! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I wish you a great 2011
  34. Isha Singh says:
well it's a great success and community made in 1 year and i am sure you will rock 2011 with great contents... congratulation for completing 2010 and wishes for next year...
    • Hesham says:
Hi Isha, Thank you so much for your wishes, may 2011 be great for you!
  35. Lennart Heleander says:
Hi Hesham, A big Congratulation for a successful year 2010 and I hope 2011 is going better and more interesting articles. (If it can be it) A fantastic article with many points.
    • Hesham says:
Hey Lennart, Thank you so much for stopping by. Trust me on this, the comments I've got on this post is much better than the post itself :) To your success at 2011
  36. Karan says:
Its been around 3 months that I have started blogging and as per your stats I think I'm going great. I am getting around 50-70 visits daily and a good avg time. I think with a bit of more work I can achieve better results.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Karan, there is nothing better than making a plan and setting up your goals.. try to achieve them!
      • Karan says:
That is the hardest thing I find, sticking to a schedule.
  37. Claire says:
Cheers! Not many bloggers have your kind of success in one year time. Who knows what better things will happen next year. Good luck!
    • Hesham says:
Thank you Claire, I agree that not many bloggers have same success in one year of blogging, although there is bloggers who have much more than me! I wish you to success at 2011
  38. Alex says:
Hey Hesham, Congratulations on your one year with famousbloggers, you have built a great community with great writers and , my opinion, great readers. I also agree with Sire, I don't really read all those pop-up domination. I just close them and keep reading the content. And I usually subscribe after I find an article that I like or an article that really helped me solve one of my many problems :). One other thing is the flashing banners, this are really distracting and if they are near the content I can't really concentrate reading. I would suggest changing them with some static ones, if you can. Except that all is great! Good luck next years!
    • Hesham says:
Hey Alex, My blog readers are so cool that they complete what's missing in articles we publish here, so I can honestly say I have more great readers than writers haha I read popups for information an to see what people are doing, it could be something useful, then I do like you... I subscribe when I find something good, even free stuff doesn't really drive me to subscribe, it's the blog itself or the person behind it! For the flashy banners, I always contact the advertisers and ask them to reduce the pain, some times I fail on this :) Anyways don't worry about it.. things will be better soon, I will work on this my friend! Thank you so much for your feedback and your continues support, and my wishes for a great year to you at 2011
  39. Steve says:
Congrats Hesham. You site has done really well for being only a bit over one year old. That is really awesome! You and your community are awesome and I try to stop by here as often as I can. I am sure 2011 will be (and should be) an awesome year for you! Thanks for so many awesome posts and so many more to come!
    • Hesham says:
Steve, it's honor to have you in our community, and I am really glad to read your comment! Let's hope the best for 2011 for everybody, more success to you my friend!
  40. Andreas says:
Congratulations on a successful year 2010 and that 2011 famousbloggers will prosper even more.
    • Hesham says:
Hey Andreas , thank you my man, my wishes for a big success to to at 2011
  41. Ana says:
First of all, congratulations, Hesham! :) All of this is well deserved, considering how hard you work. Now on with the critique - my favorite part and as you know I am quite good at it. :) I know that a lot of advertisement on your blog doesn't yield much result. So why have it? I would have a cut-off for how much money an ad spot is worth to you. $100? $200 per month? I know I am not saying anything new here and I know you thought about it already, just might not have acted on it. AdSense? I never thought it was worth it's salt.... Now on to something that I recently noticed. The quality of your content. I think your blog can be MUCH better than what it is right now, if only you screened the submitted posts just a little bit better. Some of the articles that are published are really not that good. :( They don't offer any valuable advice, just generalities you can find anywhere else. Once readers start using your blog for link building only, you've got a problem. I am sure you don't have a shortage of guest bloggers - a little more screening will go a long way, in my opinion. Overall, I am so excited to see you flourish, Hesham. Can't wait to see what you'll do in the year to come! Ana
    • Brian L. says:
I agree with you that Adsense isn't worth much. And base on the rate found in the advertising page of this site, I think it is generating less than $1500 per month from advertising. Is majority of the income generated from the affiliate sales? It would be good if you can give us a breakdown of income so we can learn from what is best for you.
      • Hesham says:
Hey Brian, My blog income is kind of complicated as it's generated by affiliate sales, advertising and paid reviews, I can not tell which is the best so far! I also can not remove any of these options as it will affect my income! P.S. I didn't want to breakdown my earnings, I will not do this unless I am earning something that deserve to be mentioned for real!
    • Hesham says:
Ana, I agree with every single point you have mentioned in your comment! So I will make this short... Some times we do what we don't like because we have to! All this will change on the first chance when I find alternatives as I have tons of bills to pay every month, so I hope my blog readers will appreciate that and will support me by forgetting about Adsense for some time :) Content problems will be handled soon as well! It's going to be costy way but I will have to figure out a way to solve this issue without hurting my guest blogging averages, also another thing to pay attention to is the sense of community, I didn't actually started FamousBloggers to provide quality as much as providing a safe place for bloggers who can express themselves, I have some kind of open guest blogging policy, community decide which posts they like and which is not giving value. P.S. some times what's not good or new for you is good and new for someone else, also content is not the body of the post, I've been experiencing a lot of useful comments that add much better value than the article itself! Anyways, the true readers on the internet is someone who seek value and give support at the same time, this is how I think about it!
  42. Edwin says:
It truly has been a great year! 2011 will be even bigger!
    • Hesham says:
Thank you Edwin for stopping by my post, and I wish you success at 2011
  43. Ben Johnson says:
    Awesome figures :)
    • Hesham says:
Hey Ben, I hope life is great over your side :) Thank you for stopping by
      • Ben Johnson says:
        cheerz
  44. Barbara Ling, Virtual Coach says:
Major wootness on your success! Congrats on not only making the plan...but following it bigtime. I hope 2011 continues to deliver to you the goodness you deserve!
    • Hesham says:
Thank you Barbra, you are true supporter and from the first class! I wish you great success at 2011
  45. Kimi says:
Hesham, That's a great achievement! I thought FB is two years old already, wow, so inspiring with those total posts and GREAT amount of commenters. Congrats and keep it up! Kimi.
    • Hesham says:
Thank you Kimi, Fb is officially 1 year and 3 months old :) I wish you greater success at 2011
  46. Rajan Balana says:
I am really shocked and amazed by seeing your activeness and positive attitude. I love the way your blog represent contents, I hope I will also achieve this stage one day. But I am really very scared :(
    • Hesham says:
WOW! thank you Rajan for your kind words! There is nothing scary about success unless we can not handle it, so don't be afraid from facing success, I know you can do it!
  47. Mani Viswanathan says:
Like the comment & Post Stats. But my suggestion is work harder on the daily UV's. FB is a great blog via it's presence on Social Networks, blogging communities, etc. But I don't know the reason behind it's conversion on UV's ? Did u do a research on it ?
    • Hesham says:
Hi Manu, I didn't get it! Do you mean I should work on increasing unique visits? or turning them to loyal readers? If this is what you mean I actually have a lot of unique visits to the blog, the thing is I want to convert more of them to be loyal readers, so this is something that need some work!
      • Mani Viswanathan says:
Ya I know FB is like a Community. But when an Outsider sees the 1K UV for a big blog like FB, then its something odd. Like my point is, I have personally seen pretty small blogs getting 1K visits/month. But they aren't as popular as FB. So I suspect some problem with Google Analytics. I can't believe the UV's are 1K/month. They should be about 3.5-5K.
  48. Blazing Minds says:
Hey there Hesham, congratulations on your blogging success, here's to many, many more over the coming years ;)
    • Hesham says:
Hi there Karen :) Blogging is amazing, and you are doing great.. keep it up my friend, and thanks you so much for your wishes!
  49. Rose says:
Hi Hesham, Time running fast. Congratulation for your 1 year and that you still alive! :-) I know that there were a good time and a hard time in this 1 year but you have help a lot of newbie bloggers out there including myself. Everytime I visit your blog here I always get some useful things. I cannot support you with product you sale because I already have it. However, I can give you my appreciation via adsense. I think all other can do the same.
    • Hesham says:
Ah! The real problem with time is we can not go back and fix the past :) Glad to hear you find useful stuff on the blog, there is nothing makes me happy more than that! P.S. Talking about AdSense, I don't recommend you click on it at all unless you are interested on what's behind the link, so there is no need to that! Thank you for your wishes Rose, I wish you great success at 2011, and keep in touch.
  50. Kevin says:
Wow! I love how detailed this "end of the year report" is. I'm definitely doing one of these once I've made more progress on my blog. It's a great way to connect and show proof to the readers. They actually get to see what goes down in a blogging community just like FB. I can't wait for the next. I'm definitely doing one for 2011! Another good post Hesham!
    • Hesham says:
Kevin, it's a great way for me to keep a record and resource on a blog post and get tons of new ideas from my blog readers, then it's available for everyone to read and learn from it at any time! Thank you for stopping by
  51. Pritam says:
Congrats Hesham. Its really a very good and inspiring figures to all bloggers. I am following you continuously from the long time and I have seen your real hard work. You deserve more than this. There are many bloggers who will come to know what it takes to achieve so much like you. I have also completed more than 5 months and doing well but not this much. Awesome Post.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Pritam , thank you so much for your kind words, I recognize you from blog comments you have made here as an active member in our community! I know you work in a very very hard niche which need a lot of work! So, I really wish you success wit your online business next year!
  52. Vuong says:
Congrats Hesham! Your word encourage me lots since I have just jumped in blogoshere. I wish at the time next year, I could write something about what would happen in 2011.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Vuong , any one can do it, it just need work and time, and you need to love what you are doing and believe in it! It's a good point to write about plans and what would happen in 2011, then latter we can see if we had success on achieving these plans, I started to take notes to make my plans for the coming year. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I wish you a big success at 2011
  53. Gera says:
Hi Hesham, Big congrats for this exceptional 2010 and for an even better 2011…and more and successful years to come :) Blogging isn’t an easy task; you need a lot of hard work, investment in resources and time, more patience! The idea that I like a lot is the open-platform for guest-bloggers, this is crucial in your blog. I really like your design in graphics and resulting effects of the code. My recommendation in a e-book unique and completely non-copyable of your experience in your blogging journey with tips for bloggers. All the best for you, Gera
    • Hesham says:
Thank you Gera, it has been a great year! You have pointed to the open guest posting platform which actually annoy some people as they think we don't provide quality content, but this is how it works the best for a community blog, we provide content and readers decide if it's quality or not, also this gives more space to express opinion in the comments! I always think that content is not the article only, but but what makes a great content is actually the interaction! (I might write something about this as it's a good idea for a blog post) so.. thanks :) Yes.. I wanted to be a unique this is why I will try to put my brains in it and spice it with my own personal experiences hopefully people will like it, I really appreciate your advice Gera All the best to you to my friend, and more success at 2011
      • Gera says:
Articles are just words put together - the important is the people behind it, community is the key :) Keep rocking Hesham and really the very best for you in 2011! Gera
        • Hesham says:
          So true Gera :)
  54. Michele says:
Hi Hesham, #1 BIG congrats on your one year! Your site really has the feel that it's been longer than that. You are doing an awesome job. #Saw your blog eval with DR. He was definitely on point. It's so hard for you to be subjective about your own site. That is why it's a good idea to have people who have not visited it b4 take a look and ask them to give you their first impressions. I did this recently with a friend and boy was it hard to hear. I ended up changing some things and am STILL in the process of doing so, which I will do in 2011. So I guess you have to ask yourself what is your ultimate goal or intention. Is it people clicking on your ads? Signing up for your newsletter? I also tried crazyegg, but only for a very short time. I didn't see the point of using it over the long haul. However, if you are going to use it, what I would suggest is using it for some time BEFORE making your changes; then make your changes and test again. This way you get an accurate evaluation based on a comparison. Otherwise, I think your site is fantastic! Your tag line is clear and to the point and anyone visiting your site for the first time should be clear within seconds what your site is about... awesome. #Ebook- I think writing something such as how you were about to successfully get a stream of bloggers guest posting for your site and how it's become a 'blogger's resource' community in a short amount of time. I'm sure it involved a lot of social networking tactics that many others would find useful...just a thought. ;-)
    • Hesham says:
WOW Michele! Yes it was longer than that because there is a lot has being going here and there and everywhere lol Yes, David eval was in point, but you know it wasn't that hard as I expected what he will say about it as everyone knows his own blog problems which makes is more easy, also I knew that was going to happen and I wanted actually to hear what he has to say about it, that was really awesome and has great points and I started to implement them already trying to make a change! So, here you go another great advice by you deserve to be followed, I will certainly do more tests! And glad you liked the tag line, I was thinking to change it, but probably I won't think about anymore! For the ebook, thank you so much for your input Michele, it's always great to know what really get interest, so now I have an amazing points to write about, and actually I have a few tactics I have been planning and implementing to keep guest blogging up! Really awesome help, many thanks and I wish you great and full of success 2011
  55. The Bad Blogger says:
well.. I have learn, having a wife and not having a wife, is a very big different in how I live... back when I'm not married, freedom of doing anything I like is possible, but once I got married there is always a limit, it doesn't matter whether is about sex or money, even the time I have for blogging is limited... So my advice for you is... be successful first before you get marry, cos life will be easier that way... may be... that's what I thought... As for now... life is tougher then before, but of cos, I never give up blogging, although I have no clue of when it will do wonders in my life... but I always believe it will... one day... Early marry Christmas to you, Hesham and a happy new year... ah... I wonder how long have we known each other... 2 years ?
    • Hesham says:
Oh man! Your comment bring single man memories, I used to be free doing what I want, but not anymore, now I must do stuff I am doing! Also, I am so guilty, not a first class family guy so far, and I am so thankful for my wife to take all that pain as I've been on my laptop for the whole year while all what she can do is watching and supporting me! So, yes.. life is tougher than before my friend, not only for us.. but for our beloved ones as well! Yes, I think we know each other for 2 years or more :) and I hope there is a few miracles are left for us
  56. Elise says:
Wow, congratulations on all the success you've had the first year. And thanks for providing those stats for some extra insight, it's always interesting to look at those things! Here's hoping for FamousBloggers to have an even more successful 2nd year and future years to come. :)
    • Hesham says:
Elise, thank you so much for stopping by, it's pleasure to meet you here, you are a familiar face on Twitter and I actually visit your blog from time to time! I wish you more success at 2011, keep in touch!
  57. John Paul Aguiar says:
Congrats on the success this year, and wish you even more success in 2011 :)
    • Hesham says:
Hey John, This year was hard and awesome at the time time, it's like the joy of pain haha More power to you my friend, and more success at 2011
      • John Paul Aguiar says:
haha it's a luv hate kinda thing. and TY hope we both kill it in 2011
        • Hesham says:
I am ready for it my friend as I don't have anywhere else to go haha
  58. Patricia says:
Hi Hesham I love coming to your blog as there is always something interesting going on. Cos I still have heaps to learn, always take something away with me. Would be interesting to hear your journey and the lessons learnt over the past year. When you share your journey, would be good to know what skills you brought into blogging and what skills you have learnt since then. Thanks Hesham for all your support and your generosity to newbies. Much appreciated. You rock :-) Patricia Perth Australia
    • Hesham says:
Hi Patricia , We all have heaps to learn, and I am glad you take something with you every visit :) I will do my best to focus on these ideas I got from you and other bloggers as it's indication of what I should really write about! Thank you so much and I wish you success at 2011
  59. Devesh says:
Hi Hesham, You've had an awesome blogging year man. You really did super cool work with FB. Actually i love the design of FB, you're an awesome designer man! -The top banners with nice hover style looks cool! -I love the simple design of FB! I think a ebook about your blogging experience would be awesome ;)! Thanks for sharing this awesome! Keep Rocking.
    • Hesham says:
Thank you for your support my friend, and of course I would love to put as much as I can from my own personal experience with blogging in that e-book! I wish you great success at 2011
  60. Ingrid Abboud says:
Hesham, Alf Mabrouk (Congratulations) on achieving such an incredible milestone in a very short period of time. Truly impressive. You are a role model for bloggers of all levels and your blog is an inspiration to many - including myself! It's remarkable how you continuously improve this site and in the process offer great products that bloggers can benefit from. I don't know how you did it my friend but I'm sure a lot of us would love to know your secrets to success. Hard work, charisma and know-how are a given indeed! You've built a super community here and your all-round numbers are fantastic! I like the fact that you intend to minimize the ads and augment their price instead. I'm sure it will make a difference in the aesthetics although I think it looks great now. As you know, my blog recently turned a year old and the amount I learned is simply ridiculous. I won't list everything here or else this will turn into a book (as it is this comment is a few chapters long - as usual lol) but I did write an entire post about that :). This a great piece to read - for not only is it inspiring but very informative as well. Lots of things to take-away and learn from. So, a big thank you for sharing this. I'll be looking forward to that contest as well your eBook. Whatever you decide to write about, I'm sure it will be insightful. Maybe a step-by-step guide to Famous Blogger's success - especially the first few months (2-4)? Anyhow - all that to say WOW and keep going! I'm sure 2011 has great things in store for you. Wishing you continued success. Cheers
    • Hesham says:
Ingrid, I will not forget your continue support and your advice to me when we first meet online and talked about blogs and blogging! The only way to do this was by dedicating my time to the blog and try to help others as much as I can! For the ebook.. I like the idea of talking about the first few months because it's really the hardest! Of course I will not talk about what after a year of blogging because I still don't know what to say haha Great connection, good friend, thank you so much and to your success at 2011
  61. Sire says:
I think separate lists are a great idea. I could have one for each blog, but that's too much like hard work. I think I'll just have one for Wassupblog, which is by far my favorite and most popular blog .
    • Hesham says:
I agree, starting with the most active blog, then probably take a step for other blogs when you are ready.
  62. Lye Kuek Hin says:
Hi Hesham, What a great year you have achieved. I resonate with Tia on the fact that i thought you are a season blogger when i first visited. You are a role model for newbie bloggers. I think you are the first to accept multi author guest post right? What i like most is the awesome community that you have built over here and i think we will see an even bigger one in 2011. I am interested to see you coming out an ebook talking about your blog model. The techniques that got you what you are now and lessons we can learn from you. Thanks for the stuff you have provided us and please keep it coming.
    • Hesham says:
Lye , I've dedicated my time for this blog over the last year and I've got great support from the community, so glad with the results so far! FamousBloggers was planned, built and designed to be a multi-authors blog since the day one, so it was never a personal blog, so after that bloggers started to have a big interests in guest blogging which is a gift for the blog! Thank you so much for your input , I will really consider that.
  63. Wasim Ismail says:
Hey Hesham I can't say I've been following your blog for the whole year, to be honest it's only been the last month since i got into blogging, but over the last month I have learnt allot from your site, and time to time come back to re-read on some topics. Great achievement in your first year, and looking forward to the years to come. Good stuff
    • Hesham says:
Wasim, I am glad you have learned something from our blog, we all learn from each other here, this is why I insists that bloggers who guest post for FB give their best personal experiences! So.. I hope there will be more to add next year. Glad you are a part of our community, and I wish you a big success at 2011
  64. Tia says:
You've had an amazing year. You started only a few months before BizChickBlogs, but I remember that when I first found your blog, it looked like it had been around forever! I'd be interested to know about your first three months - everything you did exactly, such as invite contributors (how did you get them onboard) and how you got so popular so fast. Cheers, Tia
    • Hesham says:
First, I would like to congratulate you for your new blogging team, this is amazing step towards a big success! Thank you so much for stopping by and I will consider your advice, much appreciated Tia P.S. I hope you will have a chance to read other comments here on this post as people really put some important and useful points, and great advice that may help everybody!
  65. Sire says:
I actually dislike those popups and never read them, I find them annoying and the first thing I do is I get rid of them so that I can get on with the business of reading the blog. I'm tired of all these free offers just to suck me into getting on their lists. I don't want any free crap. If you have something to offer then offer that, not some lame eBook that's only there to get my email so that you can flood my email box with offers whose sole intent is to get me to buy something. I'm not speaking about you personally Hesham, I'm speaking about all those offers out there which are only there to get me on the list. I've always been against lists. I know they have a potential to make money but for me they're too much like those annoying salesmen who stick their foot in the door while they try to shove a vacuum cleaner in your face.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Sire, Thank you for stopping by today! I just want to let you know, I changed the setting of the popup to show once every year, so now it will not show again till the end of 2011, or if someone clear browser cookies! Yes, you are right about lists, I don't like them that much, but sometimes we have to do what we don't like! I don't want to add more free crap, I need to provide something that really useful, and nothing is better than personal experience in my opinion, so I will make sure to put my mind in it, and no vacuum cleaner this time :) I really appreciate your comment, have a wonderful day!
      • Sire says:
Hey Hesham, it's not like those popups would keep me away from your blog. Like I said I don't even bother reading them. I've actually put a link on my blog just the other day for people to join my list and am currently working on a post explaining why I would like them to do so. There won't be any freebies either and I won't be constantly sending them emails trying to sell them stuff. Basically they'll get an email every time I write a post so and I'll add a personal note, perhaps even a joke or something. Sure I may not get many joining but I'll have a close connection to those who do.
        • Hesham says:
This is great idea, I will be checking it and joining your list then because I know you awesome stuff! Close connection is great, thank you for sharing this! For me I think I need to plan this very well, probably because the nature of the blog! I run only one email list which is not the best way to go and probably this could piss off someone, so I think I will need 3 or 4 separate email lists, it's maybe seems weired, but let me explain.. One list for new visitors (probably for the popup), and another one for guest bloggers (to keep me more close to them), and the third one to send blog updates exactly like your idea, and then one for an email course I am preparing! So, visitors and readers decide which one to join, and they will not be forced to receive something they really don't want! uff.. this is a lot of work :) Thank you again Sire for sharing
  66. DiTesco says:
What a great year Hesham and I have to admit that such milestones is not easily attainable without hard work, dedicated effort and most of all, an awesome community of bloggers that you were able to cater. So to show you that "building relationships" work. As for your earnings, I second you on not showing results.. I don't think that it is really that important. Like you I have set some goals fro 2011 and that is to "try" and reduce the number of ad spots available. This indeed will be better for advertisers and hopefully for us too. What can I say more, keep it up, more power to you and a happy holidays to you, your love ones, your readers and to all the community of famousbloggers team.
    • Hesham says:
Great to see we think the same about ads issues DiTesco, so I hope this "Try" will succeed or then we will have to put the Christmas tree up for the rest of the year :) Thank you for your great wishes my friend, more power to you
  67. John says:
Yo Hesham! Congrats on passing one year. I'll be coming up on one year soon and I can't say I have the same success as you, but reading your site and connecting with others in the same sphere has really helped me out. Maybe your e-book should be something like this post, divided up in to section where you talk about the ad deals you made, guest posters, ways you drove traffic, etc. you could call it "Blogging the Famous Bloggers Way!" or something. Hey I know I'd buy it.:) Peace! -JG
    • Hesham says:
What I really like about you John is you go always straight to the point :) The thing is FamousBloggers was planned to work that way, and so far so good, this is the advantages of having a plan, although things are more complicated now as we need to think about the next level, which could be much more harder! Something like this post? cool! Yes this is a good idea, I will put this in mind, I will actually comeback to this post from time to time to get insights! Thank you so much John
  68. Pete Carr says:
Hesham, Your ebook should be about your experiences over the last year. The ups the downs, the mistakes and the triumphs. I for one would read it. You are active everywhere I go, Blogengage, Twitter other Blogs. I always see you. The hardest working bloggers. (Ah an idea for a post) Thanks Hesham. Pete

Hey Pete, Very nice, I could write about it, but there is only one problem, I don't remember what I have done last year :) (just joking) This is something good to consider, thank you so much for these ideas. Well... Yeah probably I can handle it because I am opening all my favorite websites on my browsers tabs all the time, so it's easy as navigate from tab to another and click the refresh button to see what's up :)

I passed one year of blogging about blogging last June. But what I really want to evaluate is what I did during 2010 : I gained traffic, wrote bunch of guest posts, gained 10 guest posts (yeah !), found lot of friends, became more active, gained lot of experience. 200+ contributers ! Wow, that's great. By the way, I just wrote a post about why bloggers should blog about Famous bloggers. If you look at the income, I made about $40 (20+ via sponsored tweets, +20 via advertising). I haven't really bought any products (no $). But I am not sad about that (I read a lot of e-books etc.). I really suggest that you write about blogging (not the basics, about "how an active blogger can maintain his blog"). Good ! I think it is a good decision to remove some ads. Yes, I do agree that its more relaxing. Anyway, you have made some great changes. Blog Contest ! I am excited. Anyway, let's wait and see. By the way, Thanks for the amazing post, Hesham ! (made me think about my accomplishments)

Wow! That's awesome Jeevan , really nice of you to post about your experience with guest blogging on FB, I am so glad to hear it was exciting and useful experience! Looking forward to your coming articles. Just want you to know that I haven't made cool money on my first blogging year in general, I was trying that time to find my way, and actually after a few years now, I could make some money from FamousBloggers.net in only one year from launching it officially, so imagine how many factors are involved in this! Will do our best to provide prizes for the coming contest, and I hope you will win some bloody cash money with from it :)

Great overview and what a fantastic year Hesham! The community that you have built around FB and the traffic that you have been able to pull is amazing. Looking forward to what you got in stall for next year.

Hey Tom, thank you so much for stopping by, and yes it was actually a fantastic year, I really didn't imagine it could go this far, so this is awesome :) I actually have a few plans to be finalized, so I hope next year will be the REAL year of making money for us, so good luck my friend!
