How To Increase Your Digital Influence

Digital Influence

How to increase your circle of influence

The power to affect, control or manipulate something or someone. I know you are a good blogger, and that’s why you use these powerful principles to enrich the blogosphere!

Whatever you do online, everything leads to practicing influence in one way or another. How do you make your readers take action? How do you make your blog more popular? How do you get more Twitter followers?

Influence

If you want to establish a kick-ass online presence, you need to increase your influence.

Don’t worry, it’s easier than it sounds. All you need is the passion to melt the moon and a desire for endless growth.

Remember: skills are cheap, passion is priceless.

Get your groove ready, and inhale my 6 tips of increasing your circle of influence.

Show Me Your Obsession.

Obsession is like passion, only 10 times stronger. Whatever your niche is, be excessively obsessed with it and show it to your readers. Pure fascination is contagious. I remember buying a digital product from an internet marketer that I wasn’t even interested in. But he was sooo passionate about his product (he loved it) that he made me buy it. Jeez, remember how YOU can influence people if they actually interested in your stuff ! I only say this: Mass effect !

If you luv something, you can make me love it too.

Writing with a passionate voice is powerful, but showing it in a video is ultra-powerful. Do it today !

Network With The Influencers

Big bloggers have big exposure, and I know you want that for yourself 😉 But how do you reach the big players?

Write a kick-ass guest post. Yeah, guest posting is not only good for getting sweet traffic to your blog, it’s also a bond-maker. If you manage to land a guest post on their blog, you have established a connection.

Invade their networking circle. Famous bloggers have lot of lesser known friends. Contacting them first and then moving up the ladder is often easier than shooting for the top right away. As long as you show genuine interest in every connection you make, you are good to go.

Buy their product first. If you actually buy one of their products and/or services, it shows that you are really interested in them. They will appreciate your efforts and determination, and are more likely to get in touch with you.

Make Secret Online Alliances

Hah, this one is my favorite. No blogger is an island, we are all connected. Why not use that to our advantage?

Find like-minded AND ambitious bloggers online and offer a mutual beneficial relationship. Cross-promote each other and share your knowledge. The most successful bloggers all have their own alliances. Create your own today. Start with 3 people, and expand to maybe 8. Too small, and it’s not powerful. Too big, and you lose your focus.

Create A Captivating Personal Brand

Most bloggers don’t get this, and that’s why they deserve a smack on the head. Your most unique asset is your character, and showing that is the alpha and omega of your digital influence. Ignore what other bloggers are doing – concentrate on your unique points and stretch them. Get yourself a kick-ass logo. Use an easy recognizable design and use on every social platform, be it Twitter, Facebook or any other network.

Interact With Your Community

You know this from this blog, but do you do it yourself ? Do you answer the emails you get? Do you retweet cool stuff from your Twitter followers ? Do you reply to all of your comments? People will only care about you if you care about them. Show some love.

That’s it. I know there are many more tips, but dominate those first. It all boils down to creating a remarkable (that means ultra-personalized) online presence, and networking with like-minded bloggers.

Know that this will take time, so promise yourself to something for your influence every single day, even if it’s just for 10 mins. Momentum is everything.

What do you do to spread your online influence ?

I think being genuine is the key, along with the obsession. Anyone can be a salesman, but the best are the ones who eat, sleep, and breath their product. Your influence is directly tied into your personal branding, and who is better to be obsessed with your brand than...you? This is not to say be selfish; far from it. You get back 10 times what you put in. It is incredibly important to genuinely interact with your base. This means responding to them when they contact you, contacting them when you see something cool, and sharing their stuff that you find interesting. Thanks for the post, I really enjoyed it.

Hi Hesham, "the passion to melt the moon and a desire for endless growth" - I like it. Just dropped by to say hallo & learn what to do next in the quest for a million voters at noaspa.com OK, hope all is wel & swell with you - and that your tips work wonders ( I know they will) Cheers Will P.S. I started the noaspa site because a dear friend died of brain cancer and I wanted to find out the possible causes. What I found out shook and shocked me - and the mighty moon must now melt.
    • Hesham says:
Hi Will, I am so sorry to hear about your friend! I visited your site before knowing that you added a comment here, I will be there for you! P.S this post is written by my friend Mars, an awesome guy!
  4. Liza says:
I like the secret alliances one, too. Makes me feel all evil-geniusy.
    • MarsDorian says:
Hey Liza - evil in a goood way. My alliance's kicking ass, and it's helping me spreading my influence. Seriously consider building your own ! It only comes with advantages !
  5. Bogdan says:
Really nice tips, the one I like the most is the "make secret online alliances", sounds so dark! Mwahaha! :) Brilliant!
    • MarsDorian says:
haha, everyone needs their own syndicate - I highly encourage it. I used the word secret because it's catchy and true: I'm in an alliance myself, and nobody knows who else is in it ;)
  6. ashok says:
It's a helpful list - there are plenty of times I come to the computer and wonder, "what can I do for my blog?" Your list definitely helps; there are always influencers to be found and talked to, or a passion to convey through an even better entry.
    • MarsDorian says:
definitely - nobody is out of your league. Tweet them, ask them, comment on their blogs, or go simply direct via email. Just do it !

Hey mars, Nice Post. You've mentioned some great points. Passion is the most important thing for blogging. Thanks for sharing this great Post. Awesome work mars. ~Dev
  8. KyleWith says:
Awesome post. I would love to say more, but you wrote a fine article here. It covers the basic strategies a person should follow and gives them just enough to want more.
  9. Julius Kuhn-Regnier says:
Nice article Mars. And I agree with you, passion is the most important thing when it comes to blogging. Without passion there is no real reason to blog at all. You can see it everywhere. People that have a passion are the most successful in life. Because ultimately you care about something more than money.
  10. Laura Davis says:
All great ideas. Its actually fairly easy to become friendly with big name bloggers. Comment on their blogs, make a personal connection, and maybe try to arrange a one-on-one meetup. For example, John Chow regularly holds restaurant meetups. Guest blogging is also great. Just make sure its quality. I've seen so many redundant guest posts and those are just not at all attractive.
    • MarsDorian says:
that's awesome with Chow's restaurant meetups. I don't know any famous blogger living even remotely close to where I am, but I plan to go overseas next year.
  11. Tia Peterson says:
Great post, Mars. I wouldn't say that it is easy; if it were easy everyone would be doing it, and it also would hold no value. Blogging with influence takes a lot of hard work, strategy, timing, and good luck. And it doesn't help to have a really stellar personality, too! Cheers, Tia
  12. mark says:
Hey Mars, This is a great overview of some of the ways that someone can connect with other bloggers online. Community is one of the things that has kept me involved in blogging since I began. There are some great people out there with amazing ideas. Having said that, I have not done anything with a few of these. For example, I have not really gone after truly networking with 'influencers'. Thanks for the tips and have a great day Mars!
    • MarsDorian says:
Hey Mark, nice to see you and about the influencers - it all depends on your style. I want to make a big splash in the online world, and that's why I network with kick-ass people that make things happening.
  13. Ana says:
I am officially inspired, Mars! Nothing is impossible for the obsessed ones and I am joining their circle. I have huge plans for my blog, and your post was just what I needed to help me to create a good implementation plan. You are so right about alliances; no blog is an island. It made a huge difference to my blog and my standing in the community once I started to connect with similar blogs. Thanks, Mars! nice Ana ! positive obsession is everything in my life - it gives me the energy to embrace my digital destiny !
  14. Julius says:
Nice article. These kind of tips are the reason why I'm frequently visiting FB. I've been blogging for quite some time now but I've decided to do it full time just recently so it's as if I'm just learning the ropes. Thanks Mars for posting something like this. :)
    • Wayne Howard says:
Wow. Blogging full-time is something I hope to accomplish. Or at least be successful enough to get me though through grad school with the help of my student loans lol.
      • Julius says:
Maybe you could and would someday. I'm not so sure about the "money" thing with blogging because I haven't got any from it throughout my blogging life. But money's not my reason for going full-time anyway, so it's all right. I'm on dialysis and I love blogging, so I think you could get the picture why I decided to do it all the way. :)
        • Wayne Howard says:
Oh, I understand. Well, making money from my blog is probably bottom on my list of priorities right now. If it happens, it happens but right now I am focused on putting out quality content. Wish you the best of luck!
  15. Cindy says:
I've learned to pick up these tips as well along the way, as I'm also new. But I only buy products I'm really interested and would help enhance my influence. lol.. when I started I failed to answer comments left in my own blog when I was busy commenting on others. I am keeping an eye on them now :)
    • MarsDorian says:
Hey Cindy, lol, your blog should always have priority - be there for your readers ! But then again, it all depends on the kind of blog you want to build. Some people have kick-ass blogs and rarely reply to their readers, because it' s not their style. whatever fits you , Cindy, is best.
  16. Kim says:
To be honest, not a new tip for me, but still very useful for me to learn to socialize my blog in the blogging community as pointed. Especially lately, i haven't used my twitter account, even to tweet my own article, so this post reminds me that twitter is also a good alternative to promote your post/product. Thanks.
    • MarsDorian says:
Hey Kim, Alles klar ? I'm a huge Twitter addict - I use it all the time. In fact, the best digital relationships I got come from Twitter - it's white magic for spreading your influence ! BTW - if you start using regularly from now on, you should consider getting Tweetdeck (it's free!). It's a powerful too to overview and organize your tweeting community !
  17. Wayne Howard says:
Wonderful tips. I am relatively new to blogging so I have been working on all these things. I really like the networking tips as it really does help to know the big names because they can give you valuable advice and help along the way. I'll definitely be using this site as a resource.
    • MarsDorian says:
Hey Wayne, awesome - this site is a great place to start from. I would say that networking plays one of the biggest parts of my digital career - finding like-minded people that are just as ambitious as you are.
