SEO is such a pain and google is making it difficult for us. I read Panda Is just the opposite of the ranking algorithm. It's just run after the page rank algorithm and filter out the results. It would be great if you can share more information on this and the ways to optimize a website. Thanks you summing up the things about google. Maria

i wonder what the upcoming Google update names will be..! Though the names of them are quite funny their impact is worse on many of my friends blogs, and it took lot of time for them to recover from that ...!

Happy New Year Hesham Sir, Nice explanation about Google algorithm updates. In-spite of all these updates, there are many unrelated and crappy sites who rank at the front pages of Google. And about the update of reducing the rankings of sites with above the fold ads, Google it self has all AdWords ads above the fold. Google doesn't obey its own rules....

Hey Hesham, great infographics. Google and other search engines are now making it hard for the blackhats to play around. Best thing for SEO now is to write great sharable content. And by the way Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Hesham! This is a great infographic with lots of information. I saw the original post yesterday and have a similar one scheduled to post for tomorrow. I remember researching most of those issues and seeing if my sites need to be changed. Luckily my sites were really effected by the changes, I just made sure to take the advice of those understood how update worked.

I find it funny that people are still really upset over updates to algorithms - especially when they are using blackhat, outdated, spammy techniques to acheive their current traffic (or, rather traffic they had before tanking due to updates). If you play by the rules that Google and similar engines set, you won't have a problem in the future - you'll only benefit as blackhat sites get penalized and die out a bit. Great post!

Hi Hesham, Google is trying so hard to get rid of us, But i think google can't just do that no matter how hard it tries! I hope 2013 will be another blasting and successful year for all SEOs. Thanks for updating us.

Cool infographic, thanks for sharing it with us, Hesham. Though EMD update costed me almost half of my traffic and revenue, but I have managed to survive through it.

Happy new year Hesham! This is a very informative infographic on Google’s search algorithm updates in 2012. I actually missed some of it but now I know better. Thanks for sharing!

Most informative and enjoying post. Thanks for summing up 2012! Regarding Ads above the fold, I wonder why it applies such algo. Google repeatedly sent me an email asking to pull the Adsense ads up on the first fold for my site icttrends.com. I had placed my content at the top and was followed by Ads. Google suggested 70% of my ads are getting lower CPC because they are not on first fold. When Google wants its ads on first fold, why it would penalize again?
