Are you Strong Enough to Control the Need to Tweet?

January 6, 2010 - Last Modified: January 7, 2010 by Hesham Zebida

The need to tweet

Some of you maybe had the chance to read my post about the Digital Cleanse, and knows about what I was trying to do by following the roles of not to use any social network or even twitter for one week, so I can concentrate on blogging a few post during this week to my blogs with out any interruption, but what happened to me was something very strange, I didn’t expect it at all.I was experiencing a very strange feelings, specially after writing a new post and recheck it a few times before hitting the publish button, so.. what comes latter is a feeling of addiction.. I guess!

The Need to Tweet!

Yes, I was suffering from the “Need to tweet”, this happened after each post I have published, and it was a very hard feeling that I can not resist it and forget about it, because usually what comes after publishing a post is sharing it, but being controlled by Digital Cleanse put me under pressure, I could hold my nerve system for only two days, and today I got a strong feeling that I want to break the cleanse because I need to tweet! I really need to tweet and socialize!

Can you handle the Digital Cleanse and control yourself when you feel the need to tweet?

hehe... that is a big disease that all the bloggers have! i also had it once... i was used to publish my posts to about 10 social networks as soon as i publish them... actually publishing to social media like that is not a good idea, so it took me several days to get out of that addiction! :D .-= Pubudu Kodikara´s last blog ..Tech Hamlet : A new Name, A New Address and A New Look =-.
    • Hesham says:
LOL! yeah I can imagine that it need time to get red of addiction, but why you think it's not a good idea? is it for a technical reason! or you think it's a waste of time?

It's important to purge yourself of obsessions now and then, to place yourself in the greater scheme of things. In February 2009, I ceased blogging about Twitter; and as you can see in my below rant, I've opted to take a Twitter sabbatical for an undetermined amount of time. .-= Ari Herzog´s last blog ..Ranting and Deciding Something About Twitter =-.
    • Hesham says:
You know Ari, I don't spend lots of time on social networks by nature, I just feel the need to promote my blog posts and other posts from here and there when ever I find some interesting that deserve to be shared! Thanks a lot for your support!

*stands up - My name is Dasche and I suffer from social networks addiction* No, no, no. I cannot deny the 'need'. I'll try and I will post something and walk away, but I feel the need to run back and make sure I tweet, reddit, facebook and all that. Just tweeting isn't good enough for me. I feel like if I don't submit them to all my places I've gathered it just won't be good. Of course it will be fine, but yes I bite into the addiction too.
    • Hesham says:
LOL! I agree that just tweeting is not enough, it still eating me to find more places to share my posts, it's just a time problem! Thanks Dasche for the nice visit, I like your comment!
      • Dasche Bledsoe says:
Well thank you. I know! Imagine how happy we'd be if we could just grow a couple of arms :)
  7. Deepika says:
Its a must to share articles in social networks. I like to tweet a lot when i find a great content. As soon as i saw good content, my hand automatically move to tweet button only. I am also using twitterfeed but i subscribed only to world news and tech news... Apart from that i like to tweet my favourite articles on my own... I think it will be more effective than auto tweets...What do you say friend? As karl said above, me too will join in that and help in sharing your post :D .-= Deepika´s last blog ..How To Setup Feedburner For Your Blog =-.
    • Hesham says:
Yes! it's an automatic thing LOL! very automatic! Manual Tweet in my opinion is better, I like to control my tweets as much as I can! Thanks a lot for the great help!

    • Hesham says:
I actually try to stay a way from automatic tweets, I think it's better to control it manually not to annoy or having too much duplicated tweets, as I some times re-tweet the same thing 3 or 4 times with out knowing LOL! Thanks MS. Freeman!
  11. Karl Foxley says:
I'll help you out Hesham by sharing your post for you. :) I know exactly what you are talking about though. Sharing a new post on Twitter is a great way to get some instant eyes on your work and start receiving feedback. Regards, Karl P.s.
