  3. Darren Scott Monroe says:
I have taught thousands how to build their followings.....and one of the funniest things i tell people NOT to do is WEAR SUNGLASSES. There is this feeling of the person trying to "mask" their identity.
  4. Maggie says:
Do not exactly agree on the whole changing the background thing on your twitter profile page. I get your drift on the branding stuff, but still, for some folks who use hootsuite or tweetdeck it's never to be seen anyways. A lot of people use those programs or their mobile phones for twitter... Branding is a good idea for facebook, but for twitter only if you have a company. The logo thing is a good one though.
  5. Trevor B. Reed says:
I really liked that you were concerned with quality followers. There has been such a push to get as many followers as you can, but to me Twitter is a place for conversations, not one megaphone shouting to the masses.
  6. Brian says:
I have read a lot of articles about how to be most effective on twitter and this is the first that has suggested changing the logo. It makes perfect sense when intending to catch a person's attention through a feed. I plan on going back through and reevaluating in order to add brighter colors. Thanks for the idea.
    • sudharsan says:
Thanks Brian.. LOgo can easily attract visitors and also it is helpfull for branding our blog
      • sureshpeters says:
the logo should reflect profession or a company ???
        • Ben Johnson says:
          I think both
          • sureshpeters says:
            thanks mate :)
  7. John says:
Thanks for the great post dude. I think I'll join an RT CLub because my twitter followers is only 653 and and I want people to retweet my tweets. -Thanks
  8. Dennis Edell says:
3- Change Logo confuses me a little. Do you mean, make sure you have logo, or did you really mean to change your existing logo.....this doesn't seem wise to me. If you already have s logo, known everywhere else, I would never advise changing it. Just a thought. ;)
    • sudharsan says:
Changing the "default" logo of twitter is always the best practise.... Ur logo is looking cool man.. Changing the logo is helpful for branding a blog in twitter :-p
      • Dennis Edell says:
Ah the default, yes that makes sense, thanks for clearing it up. :)
  9. Vishal says:
This is great...I am gonna implement this right away for sure...especially the hashtags bit
  10. Mandy June says:
Twitter is a great social networking tool when used correctly. A definite must is making it personal as well. I understand it's a Twitter for bloggers/businesses but you gotta make it personable so that people will associate your business twitter with a name and a voice.
  11. Deidre Brathwaite says:
Hiya Sudharsan, Some great tips. I am a big lover of the #hashtag, when used correctly. However recently I have come across some accounts where persons #hashtag every single word in the tweet. So despite being a powerful tool if using incorrectly it can come across as being annoying and spammy.
  12. francesca says:
WOW! "20-50 tweets per day"?! I had no idea that was the standard! I only tweet a few times a week... gotta work more on that ;) Also, I never heard of RT clubs... I hope I find something related to our subject...
    • sudharsan says:
20-50 tweets are low.. There are some bloggers tweeting more than this :-p
  13. bryan says:
Hi Sudharsan, I never thought of using #hashtags for my tweets. interesting to know about a RT club too. But I think you need to post quality tweets that add value to your followers and your RT community too.
    • sudharsan says:
Yes Sure.... LIke Content is the king, Quality tweet is must for twitter. But quality tweet includes using proper hashtags :-p
  14. Colleen says:
Nice article sudharsen. I like all the ponts, but never heard of a RT club.
    • sudharsan says:
Join in any of the RT clubs. You will surely get benefited by it. thanks for your valuable comments
      • Colleen says:
I'll keep an eye out for one that fits our niche. Certainly will not hurt to give it a try once or twice. ;)
  15. element321 says:
Great tips! I have been using Twitter for a while only recently my numbers started raising. I believe its mostly because I engage with my followers or try to and I tweet 15 - 20 tweets a day. To get my tweets, I generally use a mixture of scheduled tweets (for days I am not on much) and TwitterFeeds to feed my favorite blogs I would be tweeting anyways. I try and visit my @mentions 4 or 5 times day and start and continue conversations. This seems to work pretty well.
    • sudharsan says:
Sure. If u tried of scheduled tweets from hootsuite of any thing like that. YOu can use "tweet old post" plugin and "related tweets plugin" which will surely help you a lot
  16. blue2x says:
awesome, i followed most of your list except joining the RT club. Lets say you recently published a blog post and you tweet it, and you tweet it twice in one day , or you tweeted in thrice in a week, is it advisable? or just tweet once?
    • Colleen says:
I agree blue. Not sure I want to join RT club. It seems like it might be a bit spammy. But maybe not!
      • sudharsan says:
Tweeting a new post thrice in a day is advisable.. That's not spamming bro... It is one the effective twitter marketing techniques
  17. Daisy says:
Very helpful post! Reading your article I can only conclude I am still a complete Twitter noob. I heard about hashtags before, but it's only now that I see their importance. Is there a Twitter for dummies ebook somewhere?
    • sudharsan says:
Hi Daisy.. To know A-Z about twitter... Download this free E-book from Mashable http://mashable.com/guidebook/twitter/ :-p
      • Daisy says:

    • sudharsan says:
conversation and interaction with your followers will surely help you to build a strong community for your Blog... Always Be friendly to your followers
  20. Julius Kuhn-Regnier says:
Twitter is a great tool and can be used really effectively. I havent done so myself. I have used Twitter for a while but I stopped using it recently again because I simply forget about it. Btw. are you serious about tweeting at least 40 times a day? Isnt that a bit too much?!
    • sudharsan says:
I didnt said to tweet 40 times a day.. BTW Why you stopped using twitter ?
  21. Luqman says:
Nice share, Twitter is one of the best micro blogging platform on the web. Twitter brings traffic, as much as possible.
  22. Danny says:
I like the idea of the RT club I am going to have to check them out. I do agree quality is better than quantity. Participating and engaging is key when utilizing Twitter.
    • sudharsan says:
just try any one of these RT clubs... Active participation + Quality followers = success :-p
  23. Laura Davis says:
Great post! I'm still kind of clueless about Twitter, so its nice to get some tips about ways to compete in that field. :)
    • sudharsan says:
Thanks so much Laura... Follow these simple 10 tips, you can surely shine in twitter :-D
  24. Kyle B. says:
I use TweetDeck to keep a close handle on all things social. While I do agree with the overuse of hashtags in everyday Twitter conversation, they can still be quite helpful when using them for social events or even current events in the news. By setting up separate columns for each search and hashtag I am interested in, I can quickly weed out the information I am not interested in. Of course (as others mentioned) there are plenty of other Twitter clients, but I am partial to TweetDeck just because I've always used it. Thanks for the post!
    • sudharsan says:
I too a big fan of tweetDeck... Thanks for your valuable comments
  25. Rebecca says:
I agree with almost everything on here, except I think 20-50 tweets a day is excessive. That's usually how someone gets kicked off my following list. There is just no way that you can make 50 tweets in one day all interesting and worth reading. I vote for the rule that only tweet when you're promoting someone you really like, promoting something you really believe in, or sharing something truly interesting. Not borderline interesting, truly interesting. Thanks for a great post!
    • sudharsan says:
40-50 tweets per day is not a tough thing and not excessive too .... JUst @replying to your followers tweets will surely help you to reach that mark.
  26. Rahul says:
Awesome Post Thanks for brief I got great tips for making more effective tweets with my twitter account. ;)
  27. vijay says:
One important thing is what is all about our followers, for example if some one send request, we connect with them without knowing whether he or she is from same niche topic area or not.In this place quantity is not a matter than quality,Excellent write up...
    • sudharsan says:
yes sure Vijay.. Quality followers is very important for a blog, if you can't drive quality followers, just make some quantity followers to your list.. that's it
      • vijay says:
But i think there is no use with quantity follower, what you think about this...
  28. Tinh says:
Great article and useful experiences regarding twitter use. I think background design will skyrocket our targeted followers sooner or later
    • sudharsan says:
Sure tinh....first impression is the best impression.. I had kept my my followers profile images as my twitter background :-p
      • Tran Tinh says:
Great and it will help us brand on Twitter too. Thanks
  29. sidduz says:
Hash tags, is become one of the worst experience, since many were placing hashtags for useless words and tweets. Its one of the most spamming experience im facing on twitter, which sounds really awkward . I think twitter need to think seriously about this. By the nice article Sudharsan. You have covered 90% of tips for building powerful profile on Twitter
    • Tinh says:
      same idea about hashtag :-)
      • sudharsan says:
I too agree with Sidduz and tinh but i think twitter cant do anything regarding this... :-p
    • Hieu Martin says:
      I'm agree with you Sidduz
  30. Mani Viswanathan says:
Really killer tips sudharsan..I completely support the Quality followers part :-)
    • sudharsan says:
Ya Mani... If we have Quality followers in our niche....we can easily get more RTs, interaction and healthy exposure to our blog post...but it always a difficult and time consuming one to find Quality followers
  31. Andreas says:
Focus always on the stragegy: Share and be shared. Post useful tweets to your followers that are in fact beneficial for them while tweeting occassional things from your personal life to underline your authority.
  32. Sandeep says:
Great tips sudharshan. Animated logo tip is very useful. I've been thinking of the ways to get my tweets noticed by my followers. This tip will surely be a lot of use.
    • sudharsan says:
Thanks sandeep... I have tried all types of logo...first i used my Photos and Animated logo. Now im using a logo which i had created...it is working very fine for mE
  33. Sourav says:
I am guilty of ignoring the power of #hashtags. And thanks for the links to those RT groups, I never knew such groups even existed. To add to the 10th point, I would say that using account management tools like Tweetdeck or Hootsuite is a must. I believe that if a blogger manages his Twitter account from the Twitter homepage, then he/she is missing out a lot. Note : The link to your blog in the bio box is not working...you have appended your link to this blog's link.
    • sudharsan says:
Thanks Sourav... Now the link issue cleared.. 1. Ya, i totally agree with u. Using tweetdeck or hootsuite is very important for a professional twitter users 2. You can join in any of these "RT clubs" to get maximum exposure to your tweets
  34. Charles says:
Great tips. Twitter is a bit overwhelming for me so it's hard to follow it. So many tweets I can hardly tell who's who sometimes. Sometimes I feel like my tweeted article post get lost in all the clutter. Now, I have no idea what you mean by the logo. I tried checking the settings for something about the logo but couldn't find anything. Any help on this would be appreciated.
    • sudharsan says:
It worked for me well bro.... It will help u to brand ur blog and it can easily capture many eyes....
    • Melinda says:
You have the logo changed..to your picture. That's good. He just meant not using the default Twitter bird. :) Try Hootsuite. It is free..you just make an account and you can create streams to follow groups of people, hashtags, keywords. It will make Twitter much more useful.
  35. Cindy says:
I've been wondering whenever I see hashtags on my twitter feed... now I know what theyre good for. Your tips are very useful especially if there are a lot of people twittering at the same time.. thanks!
    • sudharsan says:
Yes, using Hashtags is really important for a quality tweets..... I too thought that it is useless...but after using it, i got good exposure for my tweets....
  36. Hieu Martin says:
I like #9. Just join to them. Thanks for sharing some tips
    • sudharsan says:
I too joined in these club.....join soon Thanks for ur comments
      • Hieu Martin says:
I'm wating for ower to accept me to group. hope will done soon
      • Hieu Martin says:
HI sudharsan. Are you joined to those club? i dont see any confirm in my mail
  37. Tia says:
All are great tips, but I have to admit that the animated logos drive me insane! :)
    • Cindy says:
:) especially the ones that give us seizures
      • Tia says:
        hehe exactly. :)
  38. Jarret says:
Sudharsan, the link to your website in your author box doesn't work, you should take a look and fix it. Hootsuite is a free and a useful way to schedule Tweets. I have a number of Twitter accounts for different blog niches. For my personal account, I don't use it too much since the account is in my personal name. I find having followers from relevant niches is more useful than random followers too.
    • sudharsan says:
yes, Always Quality followers is very important than having much followers.. BTW thanks for notifying me.... I will contact ADMIN regarding the issue...
  39. Jay Philips says:
    10. Be genuine. Don't try to be someone you're not.
    • sudharsan says:
Sure JAY.... I forget t say that....Be urself always....
    • Hieu Martin says:
      Why not ? Jay
  40. Robert says:
These are some really good tips, I get a good bit of my traffic from twitter, but find my followers aren't really going up very much. Maybe one or two a week or so. The #hashtag is something I've never used before but now that you mention it, it seems like it could be worthwhile and I'll see if i can give it a go Thanks for the great tips.
    • sudharsan says:
Yes, Many bloggers dont use hastags for their tweets But i strongly recommend to use hastag to their tweets. But there are some popular hastags for bloggers which is used by many bloggers and webmasters.. I will come up with that list within few days.. :-D
  41. Melinda says:
I think #hashtags are powerful additions to your tweet that can help new people find you. One thing I would add: use a program like HootSuite to create lists of people and to create streams of keywords and hashtags you want to monitor.
