10 Offline Ways To Gain Traffic and Higher Rankings

For some marketers who find it virtually impossible to spend longer hours using online marketing tactics, you may want to try these 10 ideas instead:

Have some fun getting backlinks using offline SEO methods that help grow your network

1. Hand written letter to a mentor

Send a hand written letter to a mentor of yours, in this day and age hand written letters are considered personal and touch someone heart instantly, they will be sure to make this public on either their Youtube channel or website if you hit the right spot.

2. Promote your website on a t-shirt presented at a famous bloggers website

Send your website logo on a t-shirt to shoemoney.com so he can wear it on his blog and will post 2 links to your website free from his pr6 website.

3. Offer a Pre-launch to your friends

Call your network of friends who are bloggers or who are involved in Affiliate Marketing, offer a pre-launch and give them the opportunity to promote your own affiliate product by offering them a commission. This will go viral and you will quickly grow more backlinks and more traffic as a result of this.

If you are a confident entrepreneur apply to get on Dragons Den, make a pitch / present your website business even if you are not looking for investors, you will get your name out there and great exposure on TV. By having a global audience see you not only you in person, but your passion and website idea you have developed can attract like minded people to get in contact with you through your website for business partnerships and opportunities.

5. Guest speaking at an event or conference

Meet other people by network marketing in your niche either at an event or conference, if you get the opportunity be a guest speaker, if you make an impression other people will be a fan of yours and naturally link to you from their website or social networking sites.

6. Local news providers giving you editorial exposure

Call up the leading local newspapers and get them to write an editorial about you or your company, make sure that you have a unique story that will make it worthy of being published, if successful they will usually list you / your company and your website not only offline but online.

7. Having an SEO guide to keep beside you as reminders

Use a SEO check sheet something you can print and have sit beside your computer either on your desk or wall, this acts as a reminder and can guide you to apply better on-page optimisation techniques.

8. Radio or TV interviews

Get on radio or TV to be interviewed about you or your company, make sure you talk with some personality, make it a bit fun to attract more listeners, then be sure at the end of the interview listeners are aware of your website and can go there for more details.

9. Telesales who can convert sales for your product / website

Have your own telesales team which are willing to work with you for your website product. Work out with the telesales manager a coupon based system, so when the telesales make a sale, the client enters a specific code that they tell them on the website, this way you can monitor and make sure that the sales have come from them.

10. Getting new clients for website marketing services

It is now possible to get offline SEO clients to take on your website marketing services for potential customers who live in the dinosaur age and still don’t have a website or are not doing SEO. Although this is not really a way to gain traffic, you will win the hearts of clients and gain their trust leading them to use your services again and again.

    Hey Daniel, I did number 2 a few years ago to someone who blew my mind with their marketing knowledge. Although the SEO benefit didn't kick in as they never made that YouTube video, they actually took me under their wing where I still am and they have taught me so much about sales, copy writing, sales psychology and so much more all from sending that first letter.     Recently John chow got a postal email from his fan and he was so surprised that he show that email on his you tube video. Email lost the personal touch but when you will get hand written letter than this will give some different kind of feelings and emotions.

    Guest speaking at networking events is such a great way! I'm glad you included it. Especially if your business deals with the Internet, speaking about your subject matter at a conference or networking event and handing out business cards that have your URL will work well.     Very nice tips, some surely easier to implement than others, but still all very valid. I especially confirm that radio/tv exposure, where possible, really boosts contacts, and possibly retention as well admitting your contents are well made. Sounds kinda stupid to say I know, but most people underestimate the effects of even radio exposure. My company also had experiences with local marketing like t-shirts and stickers give aways, they work very good as well and they require a relatively small investment.

        The previous company I worked in used to make T-shirts every summer to give away without any particular reason, and walking around my city's main streets noticing totally unknown people wearing your T-shirt (they were more expensive than the ones used for this stuff usually, and very well designed) was a very good feeling and surely good promotion. So one advice I could give, if you can afford to spend a little more on materials (better texture and such), do it, and make a GOOD design, not just a useless spam of your brand's logo. People will wear it like they were a Puma or Adidas T-shirt, and you'll score much higher.

    I am fan of these offline guerilla tactics with stickers everywhere, like on toilets. I admit that more than once I looked up a website because of a sticker I saw in those places :)

    I think being on a radio or TV interview will be hard unless you make something ridiculous, creative or "out of people's mind" :), then you can hope to get a spot. I think other ways are really nice. I notice some corporate and small social media companies have printed a lot of T-Shirt to give away at events already so I think it could be the money-saving way to market your blog offline. Oh, and you forgot to mention about handing business cards as well :)

    Thanks Benin, With having your own telesales team you could when starting out outsource it, but in the long term once you are set up correctly I recommend having them work for you in house, this way you can manage them properly!

    Really love the emphasis on being personal and unique on this list. Hand written notes always show a higher level of thought than an email. I am curious if you could go into the process and who to contact at a newspaper to do a story about you and your business. Really enjoyed your list!

      Hi Trevor, Thanks very much, The whole idea is to be as unique as possible when doing this offline. Yes I myself have had success with newspapers, you have to call up the newspapers or find who some editors are and add them on facebook ;)

    I think these offline methods are more for blogs which have a seperate revenue stream, or have a unique function, I couldn't really go promoting my blogs with these methods, it just wouldn't seem right to me

    Great post. One thing that I like to do is put a flyer up on a community bulletin board. I have several local cafes that have a board where I put up a flyer with an invitation to come to the website. If i am hosting a free webinar or event, i will put out flyers about it, inviting people to join in as well.

    These are nice tips you give here. I have found that it's important to promote your blog or website online as well as offline. I nowadays get more and more people who want me to help them and most of them contact me because of other people telling them about me. So I think you shouldn't neglect to promote your business offline.

    Congrats on your first article. It is definitely true that many of these offline tips can be very positive and powerful. Guest speaking and snail mail marketing are two particularly good ways of doing this. For mail marketing you want to make sure it is personal. Form letters are ok. But make sure you sign each, have personal addressing and the envelops addrssing is all done by hand. NO impersonal machine done stamping, addressing etc. The important thing is to make the mail look like it came from a friend rather than an impersonal company. This will at least get your message read.
