Blogging For Money Beginners Guide #4

How to Write your Article

How To Write Your Article?

Good question. And, while there are numerous suggestions on how to write your articles, there is one important matter which you should consider, and that is the YIN YANG of blogging. Before moving forward, let me give you a brief excerpt of what Yin Yang is: “Something created together in a single movement, and are bound together as parts of a mutual whole.”

Or basically, balance.

Let me ask you something. When you are writing your next article, whom are you writing for? For your readers (Humans) or for search engines (robots)? Blogging for Money unfortunately requires that we do both, although we must write, first and foremost for our readers, and then for search engines. Having this in mind, let’s break this down into a more comprehensible solution.

For Your Readers (The Yin)

1. Unique: Just like our DNA which is unique, I believe that every writer also has it’s unique form of writing. When writing – be yourself, use your own words, share your views, provide your opinion, give your readers emotion and most importantly try to connect with them (e.g. ignite a discussion). In my view, this is what makes an article unique, and nothing else, period. Do not confuse unique with original as they are not the same. Original means that you created the article your own, from scratch and not copied elsewhere.

2. Quality: Focus on what you are writing, and try to stay on your topic. Perform a thorough research before you start telling everyone about something. If you are recommending a product, service or an affiliate program, make an accurate research of what you will be writing about, compile the results, analyze them, and then draw your conclusions. If you had experience yourself, provide proof. This will give you credibility, and unless you gain your readers trust, it will be difficult to gain success.

In addition, avoid distractions on your post (such as ads) directing your readers attention on what you want to say. Adding images that are relevant to your post, are definitely recommended. Articles, such as Paid Reviews, are easily detected by your loyal readers and you want to keep that within a 3:1 ratio (at least). I am not saying here that we should not post paid reviews, but rather, avoid posting successively, one after the other. After all, we are blogging for money🙂 Blogging for money: Part 2 of the Reverse Order, will remind you of other useful information.

3. Add Value: Simple math. Add 1 and 2 of the above together and it is almost certain that you will give value to your readers. I wish to recall your attention to the following:

“Your visitors want to read a blog that gives them value and enhances their lives. Your principal motivation when producing content is to focus on these two aspects for your readers. After reading your blog they should feel good and thus, is the first step towards captivating an audience, building traffic and finally making money.”

Ok, so much for the Yin. Now for the Yang.

For Search Engines

The second most important part of writing is optimizing your content for search engines. Search engines drive traffic to your blog and these are the ones that matter most when blogging for money. Why? Because these users are the ones that are looking for something specific. Your regular readers are not (too) interested with your ads or affiliate links so don’t expect them to click that often. Maybe they will if whatever it is you are recommending is red hot:) The point is, what good is it to have quality content if no one will read it. Right?

Enter the Yang. SEO optimization is another important aspect to consider, when writing our articles. Techniques, such as, writing catchy titles, using proper keyword density, etc., are just but a few of various ways you need to know to do your SEO. Where else can you get such a precious source of information but from Mr. G. himself? The Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide and the Google SEO Report Card, made public recently, are great resources and a must read. Whenever possible apply those techniques, if you are seriously considering to achieve balance (Yin Yang).

There you have it, this in essence, is what I believe you need to write a good article. I am sure you also have different views and opinion, and for that purpose, I would like you to share it here, with us.

As we all know, these techniques can be very effective to attract audience who will dig into your post. My point of view, as a blog reader sometimes, most bloggers don’t come up with unique idea or unique topics. They tend to copy the topics and re-write it on their own words again. I mean, that’s actually fine. But at least consider adding more interesting points about that topic that certainly your idea right?

Thank you for the great article! When i first started blogging i don't understood about it, but I know what to do.
  3. Jason Jumat says:
Great information here that is vital for the ears of bloggers. Like the fact that you are distinguishing "unique" from "original" in your post. It's as you say. Original work/articles and unique ones are not one and the same thing. In stead. Unique is synonymous with branding.
    • DiTesco says:
Hi Jason. Sorry for the late reply. Anyway and as you also say, unique is synonymous with branding. Could not agree more. Unfortunately there are still many that confuses "original" from "unique". Thanks for your input
  4. SEO Company says:
Frankly say I don't get money via blogging so i don't have more experience about it make money online but i seen maney people earn via blogging!! but i think if you have good content is all that matters! If you offer good content, you naturally have a nice PR and other ranks. Consequently you will earn more
    • DiTesco says:
Yes and NO. Content matters a lot and is definitely the first thing one should be concerned about when blogging for money. However, that alone will not bring you the money if you do not "do" anything else. PR and other ranks may come in naturally but then again that can take forever and being more active on Social Networks, building relationships, etc.. will get you there a lot faster.
  5. chandan says:
Link baiting style article can drive attention of social media traffic as I have noticed that only the unique titled artice, video or picture get more votes on digg, mixx like site. But for writing article for search engine is something like different, the complete SEO strategy will have to own when writing article for search engine.
    • DiTesco says:
Agreed Chandan. thanks for leaving your comment, really appreciate it
  6. Renewable Ray says:
The first battle is knowing what words you should be using to have search engines show the love, then using them right out of the gate. Don't bury them 250 words in.
  7. Dana says:
I agree with you that the best article for making money is which catch attention both from readers and search engine. However, It seems hard to keep that balance in every article.
    • DiTesco says:
Before I used to think the same thing but today I have a different understanding of what should be done to keep that balance. The key is using "keywords" that fit perfectly on a post. Like your comment, you used the keyword "search engine" and sometimes without even knowing you are actually writing an optimized text. You just have to know which keywords you are targeting for.
  8. Dennis Edell says:
Did I miss 1-3? Anyway, awesome article man. I said pretty much all I had to say in response to other commentators, but this should definitely be saved as a resource. :)
    • DiTesco says:
Thanks Dennis for your thoughts and input which I have read below. And Yes, it appears you did miss 1 - 3. Might as well give it a read :)
  9. Murlu says:
I'm actually a bit divided on this but I do agree on you on some points. I think you don't necessarily need a balance between the two. Allow me to explain. When writing specifically for the web, you do have the possibility to make money with your blog through advertising due to the sheer amount of traffic however you don't develop a community and have to keep the traffic levels up. The middle comes from a balance between the two (as the post says) that uses SEO to bring in readers but delivers content which keeps your readers around. Finally, theres writing specifically for humans. This actually can be the most rewarding of all of these and doesn't necessarily need to be balanced. Even if you completely blocked search engines from visiting your site, never work on SEO and other tactics, you can still build a passionate community which will allow you to make a sizeable income. The thing is that it's best for most people to stick to the middle because ones that aim only for humans often already have a following (think celebrities). For the average blogger, you need to bring in the traffic but build a community.
    • DiTesco says:
Hello Murlu. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and I agree with what you just said - "The thing is that it’s best for most people to stick to the middle", that's balanced to me :) Thanks for your comment and your thoughts. Comments like this is what a community is about.
    • Dennis Edell says:
Your comment just scared the crap outa me; I thought for a second you were rooting around in my mind.....which would be very bad for you. lol The fact that I write for humans with SEO as an afterthought, is pretty well known. However... "Even if you completely blocked search engines from visiting your site, never work on SEO and other tactics, you can still build a passionate community which will allow you to make a sizable income." Yea, I have a multi-blog expansion/revamping thing going on, where I'm considering doing EXACTLY that.
  10. Kristi Hines says:
Great tips! I always think it's important to have a good balance between writing for readers and for search optimization. You want people to find you, and you want them to be happy with the content you provide when they get there. I personally write for readers first, then do the optimizing after the fact to make sure it's good for people and findable.
    • DiTesco says:
The approach you just said is exactly what I am trying to spread around. First and foremost for your readers and if at all possible for search engines. After all, search engines do read as well, lol. And if one is "blogging for money", I am of the opinion that your approach (looks Yin Yang to me), is by far the most recommended one.
    • Dennis Edell says:
Exactly like me! the SEO I do, if any, is done during the proofreading phase, not as I'm writing. :)
      • DiTesco says:
I agree Dennis and if Hesham would not mind, here is a blog post I wrote that is related to this one which I hope can be useful to you. http://www.iblogzone.com/2009/07/3-step-guide-to-simple-seo-article.html
        • Dennis Edell says:
Hey now that seems simple enough for me. :)
  11. Gabriele says:
That was a good blog on how to write for the SE as well as for humans. What some of us often forget is that the SE are actually machines. On the other hand there are rumours that Google has humans also check out content which it evaluates.
    • DiTesco says:
Thanks Gabriele for your comment. The rumors about Google having "humans" check on content is true but normally happens only when someone asks for a reconsideration and that to takes time. The 200 plus ranking factors they use makes it possible to analyze content without the intervention of humans. In this case, the only humans that we should really be concerned about are our users, loyal readers and trusted community.
  12. DiTesco says:
All work done for both your readers and search engine robots are never a waste of time. As a matter of fact you have just proven that by making your first sale via a search engine user. Keep up the YIN YANG and you should be on the go.. Thanks for your input, appreciate it
  13. Latief says:
Wow! My dear friend DiTesco is Back! Yes bro, Writing contents for SEO and Human is always become a problem for some bloggers, but if we can do that, it'll bring us very good result. Thanks
    • DiTesco says:
Absolutely Latief. It is there all over the place that says "it is not easy" to manage an online venture. Blogging for money requires hard work and a lot of well crafted balanced content. As you said, get that done and you are way towards achieving good results. Thanks bro for filling in the gap
  14. Hesham says:
Glad to see the "Blogging For Money Beginners Guide" back to the track again, thank you for the great article!
    • DiTesco says:
Hi Hesham. It took a while and its great to be back with this awesome community you have built. I hope I can stand up for the challenge.
  15. Dev says:
Great post buddy. hmm Great YIN YANG..!! When i first started blogging, that time i really hate search engines (robots). I though i should i waste my time for robots, but that was search engines hwo made my first sale. I think we should keep balance on both Yin and yang.. :D ! Thanks for sharing this great post. !!
