Social media: South by Southwest is one of the United States’s largest and most important festivals for film producers. Held annually in Austin, Texas, the festival is widely covered by traditional and social media so that even people who don’t go are able to stay up-to-date on what’s happening.

- SXSW got a spike in coverage on March 8th, the day before the festival started…
- People are using the #SXSW for unrelated hashtags, which shows that it’s getting a lot of coverage…
- But there’s still a surprising amount of negative coverage
- There’s 3 negative pieces of coverage for every 7 positives
