Regardless if you are just starting as a blogger or have been at it for awhile, one of the main goals you have is probably to make money from your writing.
However, not everyone thinks of becoming a freelance writer, for many reasons – you don’t think your English is very good, you don’t think your writing is great or you don’t think you can come up with good ideas people would pay for.
Well, you can put all those words on a piece of paper and burn it.
Because “Successful Freelance Writing Online” will teach you exactly how to do that – make money from your writing, no matter what level you are at.
You may have seen Tom Ewer here, or read his freelance writing blog but now, you can learn even more of what he has been doing, by reading this great guide.
How to Generate a Full Time Income by Writing for Blogs
The subtitle of this book is “How to Generate a Full Time Income by Writing for Blogs” and it definitely delivers all the information you will need!
Which brings me to my favorite thing in the whole book:
No fake promises of millions over night. Tom tells you straight away what the deal is and that you will have to work hard. But his tips will make it easy on you to start your freelancing (for blogs) business, develop it and make enough money from it to make it your full time income stream.
The book actually focuses on becoming a freelance writer for blogs, not a freelance writer that works offline, or writes any type of content. Which is, I believe, great because that is what most of us need anyway.
Note that if you are absolutely NOT interested in freelance writing, you will still draw amazing lessons from this guide, and you can implement them when writing for your own blog or writing guest posts, for example. So don’t leave just yet.
The meat
The book has a lot of content with no fluff.
Down to earth actionable advice you can start implementing as you read. Of course, any writer that wants to make money from blog posts, should write great quality ones. Tom shows you how to get to that level, by picking topics, addressing certain things in the post, writing headlines, finding and organizing your ideas and so on.
Here is another point he makes, that gets clarified with a tip on how to avoid it:
Right after this, he explains how to write a good post by adding certain elements and what type of posts to go for.
What about your own blog? If you decide to create your own blog as one of your work examples and portfolio, Tom will guide you through it, with some specifics you should pay attention to so you optimize your blog to get clients.
Clients and rates
As a book about freelancing, it would not be complete without specific advice on how to find clients and this is definitely area that is covered in enough details.
You will get tips on writing the pitch, following up, finding jobs and so on.
Rates are one of those things a lot of people struggle with. A lot of them worry about charging too much or too little. Tom explained this in a lot of details so you will be able to calculate the rate you should ask for, what not to accept as well as how to negotiate and re-negotiate your rates and conditions of work.
Another thing that sometimes can create a bit of a problem or just add some stress to your business are payments, clients who are irresponsible about paying you or those who just didn’t pay your invoices. Tom advises you how to avoid these situations and deal with them.
And of course, as a person who has been in this for some time and knows ins and outs, he also shows great deal of respect to his clients and his work by teaching you how to treat your clients and keep them coming back.
Conclusion
This is “Successful Freelance Writing Online” in a nutshell, but believe me when I tell you that I only touched the tip of the iceberg with information you will find here.
I am not easily impressed with ebooks because a lot of them just rehash the same old stuff you can read everywhere. However, this one is full of actionable steps I plan to put to good use 🙂
Don’t miss it, no matter if you want to blog for money or just need help with guest blogging, you will be able to get a lot out of it.
